I'm conflicted about getting the AC bundle simply because of the fact it's an XL.

I tried an XL out for a day but did not enjoy it and ended up returning it for a pink 3ds. Now with AC I'm wondering if I really do want that bigger screen to see the game in all it's glory and then the bundle comes out and I want one even more.

I borrowed my friends XL for a little but it feels so heavy in my hands and I'm not used to the screen. It almost feels TOO big and I can see the pixelation of sizing up. But my friend also said it took her a little bit to get used to the bigger size and now when she looks at regular 3ds they look so small to her she doesn't like them anymore.

Any opinions on this subject? I'm really fine with my small screen size but I love the AC design and I like a digital copy anyway.

The pixelization makes no difference. It's like getting a bigger TV: Same resolution but you can sit further back from it and still see it.

There are SO many advantages to the XL that I have listed countless times on this website. Look for "3DS VS 3DS XL" threads on this site and ACC.

Well, maybe play around with your friend's XL a little more, just so you get use to the changes. It took me some time to get use to my 3DS, and I only just previously had a DS Lite. Not much of a difference, but the contrasts are still there and obvious. You've still got a while until the bundle is released. Take your time. You're gonna have this thing in your grip for hours, maybe even days playing New Leaf! Hehe c:

Thank you! I will look at this thread as well. I was curious of other people who may have upgraded and if they felt they had to 'get used to the XLs size' as well. I just don't want to regret my purchase :)

It was a bit easier for me to adjust (I'm 6'8), but there was a bit of a curve getting used to it. it is bigger and it doesn't leave too much room in my pocket, but it fits and is comfortable enough to walk with all day. the weight is noticeable at first, but over time you won't even be able to tell. I also like the stylus and placement of the XL, and the screens are glorious!

Well I was hesitant but as soon as I Held my xl I loved it so idk...lol I'd recommend trying one out some more to make sure. If you want to keep your regular 3ds you could find or make a ac skin :)

I went from having no 3DS at all to getting XL for my first one and I love the screen size and the overall size of it so much!! Fits perfectly in my hands, except it does seem a little bit heavy, but this is ok, just adjust your position, I usually lay on my back, put my knees up and hold it against my knees. Just do whatever is comfortable because the heaviness of the system really isn't too bad. I would HIGHLY suggest you get it though, the build quality of it is just so much nicer, the screen is an incredible size... It does look a bit pixelated sometimes (I am used to the retina display or normal display of iOS devices lol) but it won't be too bad for ACNL because of the way the game just... is. It doesn't have really broad rounded edges of things so it won't look bad. It will look way nicer than the 3DS. The colors also seem better on the XL, the 3DS looks sort of washed out because it has such terrible glare. I have used normal 3DS a bit before and after I got my own XL so yeah... If you have the money to throw around and like the ACNL 3DS, GET IT. You will not regret it. Your call though.

At first I bought the original 3DS but after I heard about this awesome game I told myself that I need a bigger screen to play it well so I ran to the store to get me a 3DS XL just for this game with a bigger screen & a great game so go for it, I say pre-order it cause it's worth every cent

Yea, the 3DS XL is definitely going to better for Animal Crossing. Once you get absorbed into that kind of gameplay you don't notice the pixilated edges. I'm extremely picky about the resolution of the screen on my phone and monitors, but the 3DS isn't that bad. I'd rather it than the 3DS I got on launch day. I ended up giving my original to my wife so she can play ACNL too

I did the same as you. I went from the 3DS to the 3DS XL, then back to the 3DS. I just don't like the 3DS XL at all.

I wish there was a way to hold them both before you buy them. I know some stores like Gamestop let you play a 3DS but the nearest one is two hours away :/

I haven't got my XL yet, I'm holding off till June so I have money for other things. Every now and then I'll test out the XL at game-stop or even Target and I really like it. I especially love how easy the Select, Home, and Start buttons are to push compared the the original 3DS. I also like where they moved the stylus. I cant stand going to the back of the 3DS just to get the stylus.

For me
* Easier button Pushing
* Fits my hands
* Convenient Stylus Location.
* Longer battery life - (Longer playtime for Animal Crossing)
* Bigger Screen (Better Experience for some good 3DS games)

I'm sure I could come up with more

My XL arrived today, such an improvement. The fact that the pixel density is the same doesn't matter, you really can't notice it. Even my DS games look great.

Weird. I can't stand DS games on the original 3DS do to the pixals

That's why I hold the "select" and "start" buttons together right when the game card loads to lower the resolution.
My white/black 2 look good then too. I personally prefer to play my pokemon on a smaller screen. But when X and Y come out, that's a whole other story :D

Yeah, the XL has almost the same pixel density as the original DS, so when you hold select when opening a DS game you get a non-upscaled game on your screen the same size as the original DS screens. You can't do this on a regular 3DS.

If you could handle the DS's pixel density, the XL will be no problem.

Yeah ^ I was wondering why he said you couldn't because I did it all the time.
