Yeah when you beat him the last time he'd try to run away and always get away.
Come to think of it, if you use action replay to play as Mechless eggman in one of Sonic's levels in Sonic Adventure 2 he can run fast too.
In the old games all Sonic characters were fast.
Eggman was Fast
Tails was Fast
Knuckles was Fast
Then everyone got slowed down.
