I am on this forum a lot at work (pretty much exclusively at work, tbh, unless I need to trade). I also spend work hours planning my town. I have multiple spreads in my bullet journal relating to NL and town planning. Currently, I'm printing out 8x8 grids and gluing them in my journal so I can have a visual of exactly where I want to put my furniture. Every time my boss or coworkers asks whatever weird thing I'm doing, they're like "Ugh, of course. Your animal game." It is hilarious to me.

Is this game responsible for anyone else's weird habits, or am I just the sole crazy person?

Yo, back in my early high school years I used to copy and paste QRs to a Microsoft Word document and then print it out so I wouldn't have to have them all on my phone. I still have the folder with them but I don't use it anymore.

I would also make a grid of my map if I had a computer to do so, but in my phone I make extensive lists on dreamies, their personalities, which town needs what dreamies ect... I also have various other memos/notes on town colours, themes, items, guides I made, and for Luminosa I have a huge list of jocks that I got throu personality plot setting, so I'm gonna see of my theroy holds true overtime.

Not to mention the 400+ pics of QRs, one album full of guides, then another for other stuff, like how an animals house default house looks, compared to my pic of how far along I've decorated it.

i feel this strongly omg
i think the most over the top thing i've done for acnl was reproducing my entire town map on microsoft excel so i could make sure i planted my trees in the right places... and after all the effort that took i gave up on planting more trees anyway

Oh man... I kind of want to do this for placing my PWPs....

boy oh boy, i relate to this a ton.

one time, when i was a little kid, i was TTing a lot one night and i eventually went to sleep. when i was woken up by my mom to get ready for school, i raised my finger and tapped at absolutely nothing, as if i was trying to go back to the next day in acnl. i really woke up this time and remembered that this was the real world, not animal crossing. and unfortunately, i can't time travel back to the weekend :(.

During the first two years of having ACNL I was a trading fiend. I wanted all the (non-NA) region exclusive items, clothing, Weeding day furniture, etc. I would even wake up early (or stay up late) to do trades. It was really something---I felt pretty accomplished when I got the train station remodel. In addition to that, I wanted my dreamies and tried my best to find people who weren't charging a hefty amount of IGB for the "popular" ones I wanted. Ah, the days of pre-WA update and the Amiibo cards was so different. (,: I would bring my DS everywhere though for StreetPass while on vacation in Japan and the States as well. Then I wouldn't be able to wait until the end of the day to check how many new houses were in my HH Showcase.

These days, I do check the forum to discuss NL and AC in general, help out, etcetera. I don't even want to know how much time I spend on here omg. I also appreciate finding new AC memes. Thankfully my partner also is an AC fan because just yesterday I checked on my town while he was taking a nap. :3 I also online "window shop" for AC merch in my free time.

I'm a crazy person too! I mapped out my entire town on a grid; it took several days and then I spent months deciding where to place villager houses, PWPs, trees and flowers by mapping them on the grid first. I also designed several rooms by using an 8 x 8 grid and planning out the furniture placement on the grid. I find my brain works better that way. When I just try to plant things or moving furniture around randomly, it always turns out badly.

I also spend way too much time on TBT. My husband just rolls his eyes whenever I pick up my phone to check on the forum for the umpteenth time a night.

Lol, you and I are kindred spirits. I told my husband yesterday I couldn't make dinner at the time I normally do because I had some very important Animal Crossing trades to make. Bless his heart.

Quite relatable. Planning about my towns (though, in my case not about the landscaping) during the w o r k at all. Having thick documents that's about villagers, items, town plans, etc. A n d, I even changed my job, so to have more flexible schedule for my NL life. Oh yes. You're not alone ha.

“Ugh, of course. Your animal game.” That gave me quite the chuckle lol. I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but back then during my high school years, me and my sister would start acting like our villagers if they were to be placed in a situation (no, not acting like literal animals silly). Plus, we would come up with our own head canons to the point where we started making comics on a bunch of crazy stuff. A story would be Tangy, Bones, and Deirdre fighting for a piece of a jellybean. Then for some random reason, a giant snake came from nowhere and Deirdre started being all tough to defeat the snake. We made many other stories involving our villagers and we still have them somewhere in our old notebooks. :) I don’t feel bad at all. If anything, it allowed us to release our crazy fantasies.

I LOVE THIS. Would 100% read your high school animal crossing comics, not even gonna lie. This is really cute!

I'm the same trust me i sort of feel guilty for spending so much time planning and thinking about a game but if it makes you happy that's the most important thing.:)

I don't really feel guilty for it. I just am a little embarrassed. But it does make me happy and it makes the time pass faster when we're slow at work and I don't have very many duties to complete.
