Thinking of getting a second ACNL cartridge.

It's certainly easier to obtain dreamies if you have a cycle town. And it's easier to earn bells by selling off villagers. But you can just build a new town for yourself or just play lazily, not caring what happens in the 2nd town.

I had a second town that I used strictly for cycling. I made a ton of bells & found loads of dreamies for myself & other people.

My advice if you do get a second copy is to be sure you have time to dedicate to both towns, especially if you worry about villagers you like moving out. I have 3 copies and I found I was dedicating 5+ hours a day to make sure I didn't lose anyone on them and it became a chore and tiring. I put one of the towns on indefinite hiatus because of it.

I'm not trying to scare you off from it, it's just my experience. I think 2 towns is manageable, and I'm less stressed worrying about villagers moving out and stuff. It IS fun though to have 10 different villagers and different towns to work with.

You can have the second copy as a temporary cycling town until you get all the igb you want and tbt to afford your dreamies. Then restart it as second town.

you could temporarily set it up as a cycling town - if you get a layout that you like you may not even want to restart. you could cycle & sell some villagers to earn bells then you could even cycle for yourself to get a few dreamies for your new town

I second this. I got a second copy because I didn't really know what I was doing with my first town, and I wanted to start over without losing my villagers/accomplishments in my first town. A couple months later I was tired of ACNL and traded in both my copies. I ended up regretting THAT decision many months later and repurchased a copy, but I'm trying to play at a more "normal" pace so I don't get burnt out again.

I agree with setting it up as a temporary cycling town. I haven't started on my second cartridge yet but as soon as I do that's what I'm doing. I have loads of dreamies too, but when you think how long you will probably play this game your dreamies may change?
I know mine have changed just since starting a few months ago. So I will at some stage be swapping out dreamies on my main town to make sure I experience them all.
A second main town for me would be too much I think, although I matter it someday.
I would definitely get another cartridge and decide from there!

When I wanted to get another cartridge for NL, I decided to just get a digital game of it so I could tell the difference between the two.
The downside to the digital is that I can't use Action Replay. I sadly have to do everything I need on the cartridge game, which is currently an empty town used for hybrids and possibly cycling.
Maybe I'll make it into something one day. I just love my digital game too much to want anything different.

Another vote for a temporary cycling town! Like p e p p e r said, I would suggest trying to get a map that you enjoy, so when you're done cycling villagers for your 1st town you can then just cycle to get villagers for your 2nd town without having to reset and start all over.

The only thing stopping me from also buying a digital copy is how many people have problems with them.
I've seen so many put all this work into their town only for it to somehow become corrupted or lose in it another way
I just feel safer having a cartridge (although I know they can also break)

omg I love having multiple towns! I have a third going now since I had enough IGB and TBT... if you really want to try cycling I say do it! you can easily make enough IGB and TBT to cover both your towns too and then getting your dreamies will be a cinch
