I haven't played ACNL in a long time, like a year or so. I want to get back into it, but I'm scared to go back into my town after such long inactivity. I had almost all my house upgrades, the island unlocked, almost all my dream villagers and I was working on getting all the town projects I wanted. But now I'm sure all my flowers will be dead and all my villagers will be moved out D':
Should I reset my town completely? I'm completely torn on what to do. Any advice please?

Maybe you can check your DS activity log and look for the exacte date and time from last time you played New Leaf. When you start the game, tell Isabelle to set your date and time to that day and nothing should've changed from when you last visited. No need to reset, although it can be tedious TTing back to the current date.

I think that if you haven't played for a year, then go ahead and reset, don't visit your town, you can visit it later when you get the Dream Suite!

Can you TT in New Leaf like that? I remember in previous versions of AC if you TTed back after a certain amount of time it still wouldn't fix the town or bring back villagers/flowers...

I'm certain in New Leaf any amount of time traveled backwards only counts as one day forward. TTing back a day or a year still counts as only one day forward. Granted, for this to work you can't load up your mayor or any existing characters before TTing.

Oh okay I didn't know that. Thank you so much!

You're welcome! Keep in mind however that if any villager was planning on moving out the day after you stopped playing, when you do this they'll be in boxes ready to leave, since the game will count it as one day forward.

I would say reset. When you've not played for so long, it's really fun to start over with a fresh layout and new villagers. You can unlock everything you had quite quickly, and those first few days in town when you're planning how you're going to landscape and where different PWPs are going to go is really fun - at least it is for me.

I agree, it's refreshing.

I've been really tempted to reset but at the same time I worked so hard to get all my favorite villagers and town projects so I'm really torn :(

Use the 3DS clock, don't use Isabelle's clock, is easier to control Time travel this way, with less risks.
