To get Medals You have to take to leilani and do some tours.

You have to get Medals from doing tours on the Island. If I remember correctly the Wetsuit is worth 48 Medals and you get about 6 or 7 Medals per Tour (Plus Bonus one's depending on how well you do). It takes awhile considering the fact that the shop cycles each day you go to the island.
