I hate it when villagers ask to leave. My villagers are a major source of stress to me. I like to keep my numbers of personalities balanced, and then I also have a list of "approved move ins" as well as "approved to move" but sometimes a marginal villager will ask to leave, and then I debate with myself over if I wan to let them go in the hopes of getting someone new or better, but I can't actually choose that villager. Right now I'm at the point where there's only one villager on my approved mover list, and that's Merengue, a friend of mine wants her. But because I'm at the point where my town's villagers are almost all set, I have a terrible time deciding who would be best to move in. At this point I have a list of 20 villagers of personalities that I only have one of, or am lacking entirely that are my approved move ins. I'm trying to let the game decide my last villager for the time being for me. The first approved camper I get is allowed to stay. Does this happen with you? Do you have a major internal struggle each time a villager asks to move that you've maybe had a long time and they're iffy? And do you get stressed about picking your final residents?

Surprisingly enough, I actually don't even have to think about it when a villager asks to move. It's an automatic no usually. I did however, let Ribbot leave today so I could snag Kid Cat. But only because my buddy really wanted Ribbot and I didn't really like him all that much in the end. It all just depends I guess.

I'm the same, I have a list of permanents and a list of 'would let go' and a few borderline. For example, I see Cheri as a permanent, but at the same time... If she pinged me to go at the right time, maybe? But again maybe not. So as you can see, I very much relate with the inner-struggle.

ya. villagers are what make the game stressful. u have to talk to get rumors, run around to get pings and u may not even get it on the first try. and also all these dreamies stuff.

I'm also extremely picky about move-ins to the point of not having allowed a random move-in for months now (with the exception of Elmer who moved in as my 10th villager from someones void ugh, glad he's gone). I'm currently in my comfort zone, I have 9 villagers so if I see a dreamie pop-up on the trade boards I can take them on and then let someone go, but I won't allow myself to drop to 8 as to enter the random move-in zone.

I don't get many streetpasses, and haven't been taking my DS out much. Right now the only villager I have that's not from my campsite or from another town is Roscoe, and he was one of my starters. But I hate choosing the last one or two. I don't have an uchi or a jock right now, and if I were to choose a villager, I'd probably choose Marcel, but he's lazy and I do a lot of my playing at night, so I'm leaning more towards villagers that would stay awake later.

Nah, I decide on villagers before I start and reset for them. So I always turn down their moving requests. I also really don't want old villagers to show up on Main Street so I don't want to void any more of them.

I have a very short list of villagers that I will let move in & only one at the moment that I will let leave. The villager struggle is very real... I refuse to wifi if I have 9 villagers, just so I don't pick up anybody's strays.

Let me just pull this out of my notes to give you an example -

I kind of hope they'll change things in the next game. I understand that the game creators designed things in the way that villagers are supposed to be constantly coming and going. Everyone kind of fell in love with certain villagers though, and a lot of us don't want anyone to move. At least we're able to stop them from moving, even if it's a bit of a risky process sometimes.

I feel your pain. I had three smugs in Kirkwall at one point and was completely torn up over who to let go because even though I loved them all, three of one personality type got on my nerves. In the end I let Lopez go because Keaton was my first move in and O'hare was a dreamie I'd wanted for a long time. But Keaton would constantly ping me to move and it got the point that I nearly let him go. But then he showed me the first letter I'd ever sent him and I got emotional lmao.

Kirkwall has 9 villagers at the moment (I'm hopefully grabbing Genji from someone soon), 2 of which I want gone and 1 that I'm on the fence about. But damn, finding two villagers to fill those last spots is so difficult.

I have a list of "stay forever and never leave" and a couple I want to move. But they are the main source of stress 'cause I want to start landscaping asap.

I think if everyone on these boards were to vote on the whole villager move out process in New Leaf, 99.9% would say it needs work.

I hate it. You finally get that Dreamie you've always wanted, and they ping 3 days later?! It hurts.

The game mechanics could be better.

I have always kept a strict rule to have all 8 personalities, and then one extra of two types to get to 10.

I have all sorts of intricate rules in my head of who is allowed to stay, and who could move in that would compliment the other villagers.

And when someone pings to move - my heart races every time. It scares me like a horror film.

I finally just bit down and got Marcel yesterday, I wanted to let the game decide for me, but I've wanted him for a while, and I had the opportunity, so I went for it. I don't have an uchi or a jock villager right now, but I suppose I'm okay with that, as there are very few of them that I actually like. It would have to be Deirdre or Sterling, and I already have two deer. As it stands I have 3 normals, I'm going to let Merengue go when my friend figures out how to get her connection stable, 2 smugs, 2 lazy, 1 cranky, and 1 peppy, and 1 snooty. Marcel plopped himself in a terrible spot. I had three spaces all cleared and nice for him where other villagers have lived, did he take them? No. He went straight to the middle of my orchard, and I'm not even sure how to get a path to his house now.

I'm not so stressed about who moves in, I'll just take whoever the game gives me (I mean I have preferences but still). I AM stressed about who moves out, however. There are people who I am definitely keeping forever, like Walker, Tom and Henry. People I definitely want gone, like Alfonso and Shep. But with everyone else I'm not sure. Like others have said, on some days I'm willing to let people move but on some days I'm not. Sometimes I'll hear a rumor that so and so is leaving and spend the whole day deciding on if I will let them or not. So I totally understand you.

What stresses me out the most is that sometimes people leave without pinging. I play every single day and one day a few months ago I logged on to find that Derwin was gone! He had never pinged me and I hadn't even heard a single rumour, and yes I talk to all of my villagers. So since then I've been terrified that one day I will wake up and someone more important to me will be gone. I wish there was a thing where they HAD to ask the mayor before leaving. That would make things much less stressful.
