The Villager Clothing Thread

I had this idea after getting Marshal in my town the other day; sometimes, the villager's initial clothing just doesn't click with you, and you struggle to find something that works better for them. For me, the denim shirt just doesn't look good on Marshal. And that's why I'm making this thread! The purpose of this thread is to help players find clothing that may suit their villagers better. You can discuss your villager's clothing choices that you think fit better than the initial clothes, and ask others if they have any suggestions for your villager's clothing! For instance, I could talk about how I think Julian's Rainbow Shirt fits him better than his initial Twinkle Tee. And then, I could ask other players what clothes they think fit Marshal the best. I really like the idea of this thread!! I'm always trying to change my villagers clothing either to new clothing or back to their original. I don't like Maple's original tee at all, for example. But I'm not sure yet what I think she'd look best in tbh

And I've been trying for ages to get kiki back in her original argyle knit shirt because i really think she looks best in that

yeah maple seems pretty tough.. hmm. she might look cute in the beige knit shirt, canary shirt, or camel shirt? and tbh, yes, as someone who's had kiki, she does look best in her initial shirt. also thank you so much for the clothing suggestions!! the gray parka would look absolutely adorable on him actually, like a cute grumpy teenager!!

I usually like keeping villager's clothes original, except for some.

Filbert is associated with NASA space stuff, so I gave him a space suit to match the theme.

Lately I've been slightly obsessed with the comedian's outfit.I've given them as birthday presents but crazy Bree bought one from me and slapped it on immediately.I think Kevin Bacon is workin' that outfit the best.

I usually send them shirt before 5pm then reset until I see them wearing it. It doesn't take too much time (or a lot of days) and they'll only display the previous clothing once.

In your case, send the argyle knit not later than 5pm on the same day (e.g. 4:30pm). Don't forget to save your game after.

Wait or time travel to when 5pm has passed (still on the same day) then check the villager. If you get lucky the first time and see her wearing it then by all means, save your game. If not, do not save. Exit to home menu. Load your game then walk around and check again. Repeat the process until she finally wears her original clothing. The game doesn't auto save from that point so you can keep exiting and loading until you manually save it.

Goodluck! I remember the last time I've done this was when I gave Wolf Link the new hero outfit on his birthday just to see how it looks then several days after, I decided to return his original outfit. It probably took me less than "10 resets" before he finally changed to original (if you're lucky, they could change their outfit instantly). He displayed the previous new hero but then later, I snatched it (lol) when he invited me to his home xD
