The Tangy thread (Orange or Tangerine?)

It has come to my attention that some people say Tangy like tan-JEE (bc tangerine) while this whole time I’ve been saying TANG-ee. What do we think folks?

Another one is Nan. I say Nan like nanny but my friend insists in Nah-n like naan the food.

Any other debatable names?

Yeah I say it like this cause tangy has a strong, piquant smell

Was tryna think of a villager name I say wrong..........for some reason I have been saying Merengue like Merengay.........I know how to say the word when talking about pies but when I see that lil rhino I say Merengay

Tang-ee. It is a word so I never considered a possible alternative pronunciation

Tough one. Cat villagers' heads as of NL tend to be kinda oval-shaped so that leans me more toward tangerine. But since oranges are actually in the game (granted that logic can't be applied for other food villagers since strawberries, tomatoes, etc. aren't either) that leans me toward orange for her.

BUT. I believe tangerines are tangier in taste than oranges, which in my experience as a Florida native are more sweet than tangy. However, tangerines have a deeper orange hue than oranges often do, and Tangy's colors more closely resemble an orange in color than a tangerine.

Personally I've always subconsciously linked her to oranges, especially since plenty of people don't know what a tangerine is. And I've always pronounced her name Tang-ee.
