I was just gonna close up my acnl town when I decided to stop in to Brewster's on a whim. Tom Nook was there and I talked to him. He gave me the most adorable dialogue ever...he basically said to Brewster he wanted to have two cups of coffee on the go, Brewster asked if they were for someone special, and Tom Nook said he wanted to give them to the couple who runs Retail, and how seeing the husband be so dedicated to his work and his wife made him think that getting married might not be so bad. HOW COULD YOU HATE TOM NOOK AFTER THAT

I'm sure there's plenty of other cute and funny interactions with the special characters in Brewster's, but that one was really striking to me since that's a side of Tom Nook you rarely get to see :)

i love seeing special characters at brewster's!!! they always say interesting little things about themselves, you know?

I don't know if I'm imagining it, but even Phyllis seems nicer, after you talk to her a few times in the caf?.

I can see how people hated Tom Nook in the previous games, especially after revisiting Wild World. The guy just forces you into a job and into debt that even if you do refuse, he brushes it off anyway.
But in New Leaf? Oh bless his little tanooki soul.

To be honest, I also didn't like Tom Nook in the previous games, however, I started to like
him more and more in New Leaf, probably because he isn't such a annoying guy anymore.
Speaking of the job: I found it funny that he even made a reference of it when you paid
off the very first loan for your house, like he admit that selling fruits and shells is better
then "searching for low-paying, part-time employment".

I personally think Tom Nook is a generous man. No due dates... no interest... even in the first game he helps you by offering you a job. I mean, sure... you kinda have to take it... but at least he's not like "oh, you have nothing? Well here's something... how about you're 18,800 (is that the number? I cant remember) bells in debt with no job!"

I bumped into her the other day at the caf? and she said "You're a lot better than the other mayor. He was lazy and sleeping a majority of the time, only awake during events. If you would've become mayor awhile ago, I would have probably actually liked my job..."

That actually makes me sad.
Even she has a watered down personality in NL.

I miss the WW Phyllis.

The conversation you have with him in HHD after you design his house is also very heartfelt! he's a big ol' softy who deserves lots of love!
