The save restore thing is so dumb

So I finally got my hands on the special edition switch and I emailed Nintendo and... Nope, they won’t transfer because my old console still works
Why the heck do I need to ‘accidentally’ break my old console to replace it?

Anyway there is a point to this
What would happen if I pretended I lost my switch? Would they block it? Or could I still use it to play offline games? Or play with a second island offline and use local communication?

Yeah I get not wanting people to cheat by reloading a save but since they’re in control of the transfers they could just give them...

This is a weird move. I assume it's good for them if people who already own a Switch buy a new one since it means more money to them, so I don't know why they discourage it like that.

They straight up stated when it was patched in that you couldn't/wouldn't be able to transfer save data.

Its restoring data you lost, that's the feature.

They also are still working on complete save data transferring, but I don't think that'll be out any time soon.

Why not just use this opportunity to have 2 islands?

A second island does appeal to me and it is what I was planning to do, I just wish I could transfer the data *once* so I could have the island I actually care about on the actual animal crossing design switch. It feels wrong to me to use that pretty console for having a random SH island for fishing

I toyed with the idea of making the new island the one with my completed home by simply dropping the furniture off through local play but I’d need to start all over with the museum
It’s hard to care about a new island, I bought a second town for new leaf and was just unable to get myself to care about anything on it except how many weeds I could farm for my main town

It’s just dumb to me that to get what I want I need to destroy a perfectly good console and be like oops I broke it

I don't understand what they did with Animal Crossing at all. Like...I've tried to wrap my head around it...and none of it makes any sense. Lol. Who would ever want their save file to be hard-locked to a specific system? I guess, with all the Nintendo accounts that got hacked, they didn't want people stealing and selling accounts...but, man...that's a different problem that they need to fix. There have definitely been some very questionable decisions made in regards to the entire Switch account setup. It all seems wildly broken.

Well, I'm hoping they'll get it going before a remodel of the Switch comes out. It's gonna suck if my 770+ hours won't be transferrable

Yup that as well. So lets hope that if the Switch Pro is the next "upgrade" then Nintendo will be smart enough to get the transfer part done beforehand, since they would anticipate a lot of people making the uh.. switch to the new switch... (pun not intended).

The hole thing is a Joke. I Know they are trying to stop cheating. But for those at have to work and pay stuff off and deal with paying for 60 dollor a game to relax dose not need to worry about there save data being lost or unable to recover if there SD Card or update gone sideways. The Cloud saveing and doing Automatic update saving every 24 hour is a must. And allowing you one Download every 48 hours is a must too. I Like to lose the last 48 hours or 24 hour then all of it.
