The Resetting Thread

I will be restarting my island on either Wednesday night or Thursday morning, when the update+upgrade drops for me. ^_^
Restarting after the update will make it so much easier when you have to craft all the items for the 3 homes! Now you can pull from storage so you don’t have to carry loads of supplies to craft everything needed.

I’m also curious at what point the hotel is unlocked when you restart. I’m assuming it’s not there straight away, and you just get a normal pier until the tutorial part of playing is over? You’ll have to let us know!

As far as I know you need to get to after K.K slider’s concert. Since if I remember correctly Kapp’n doesn’t show up until after. So maybe after Brewster?

I started a new island on my switch 2 on Jan 1st. I did prepare for it by starting a new character on my switch lite island. This way I can get her some helpful DIY’s and get terraforming. I spent most of the time terraforming so I can place the houses and shops when I get to them. My 5th villager moved in today. I got the museum tent yesterday and have Nook’s Cranny. I still need to upgrade RS and get Ables shop.

I restarted on the 1st Jan too and when the update released early yesterday, I had just unlocked Kapp’n, so both Kapp’n and the hotel appeared together. I wonder if that’s going to be the case for any islands restarted after the update. I don’t have Brewster yet, so I think the hotel will come before the Roost :)

That’s so good to know thanks. I am a way off from getting Brewster since I really like the tent Blather’s is in and wish we could keep it. I also still need the campsite .

Yep, that’s one of the reasons why I did restart— I wanted to experience the update and the upgrade pack from the get-go. ^_^

The hotel isn’t there from the start. It wasn’t even on my previous island when I booted the update up yesterday morning. I heard people saying that you need three stars to get it.

I restarted for the update, got the hotel and decided i didn't actually like it, plus I wasn't liking how my island was going and didn't feel like tearing everything down to redo it all, so I reset again and I'm much happier with my new island already. I have better plans for this one so fingers crossed I keep it lol

I'm gonna miss my exterior designs but it's all for the best 😅 Running around the island feels so nice again without the lag from having a bunch of furnitures and fixtures displayed outside.

I decided to restart too. I am sad this game doesn't have the ability to start over but keep the catalog, though. but my flattened island and the island name I was stuck with just weren't doing it for me and while I did start terraforming renovations, I wasn't bothered to keep going with it. hopefully I stick with this island... it's tough because it takes a while to determine if I really like it or not. I'm definitely going to have to do some amount of terraforming to have something that doesn't bother me, so I took something that looked decent enough for a start and... hoping I wanna stick with it. didn't wanna keep having to do all the inputs for name and such just to see a new bunch of 4 maps... coulda probably gotten something more to my liking to start, but it's not worth all the trouble

Depending on what map features you're on about I disagree about it not being worth it.
The only reason I don't still have my original island is because of things that couldn't be changed later.

But if you mean the unchangable stuff is fine but the cliffs could look better or something then yeah, anything thats not permanent isnt worth the hassle of trying to reset for.

My old Switch with my ACNH save went putz a couple years ago, and in spite for the fact I could contact Nintendo Support for it for my new Switch 2, I held it off for awhile because I wasn't sure if I really wanted to continue playing or had any interest until the new update dropped. After some thinking though, and talking to friends ... I decided a fresh start would be a fun way to (semi-belatedly!) cap off the new year and also be a great way to re-experience the game and the new update. I hadn't really touched Animal Crossing in a while, but i'd love to fall in love with it all over again and maybe take it a little easy this time.

Also because I lowkey miss forums and I missed talking on here a bit, hahaha...

I'm thinking I'm going to be resetting today because I'm just really unsatisfied with my island right now. Nothing I construct/deconstruct really fixes the fact that my resident services is off center and my airport is the ugly green color. ;_; SNIFFLE

Is Gordita a chill island name? I get so nervous picking the permanent parts of a new island haha. I love the Cheesy Gordita Crunch from Taco-Bell, but it also just sounds like a fun word.

My 2020 island was called Swamp so I don’t know why I’m overthinking it 🤪

New and first Switch 2 is in my hands, everything's ok and I'm ready to start today!
What I was looking for: a theme, first. Was thinking about a SnK island but I saw a perfect one one YouTube and I couldn't do better than this. I hesitated so much time on character's name and island name too... But now it's done. I didn't care about airport colour, and would prefer peaches, pears or oranges as starter fruit! I got oranges and orange airport.
I wanted a big peninsula, or the small round one, or the strange one. I ended up with the big.
I wanted rocks and I have rocks! The map is, sincerely incredible. I'll go for a citycore island, and as my main character is named Casper, I'll try to add a bit of surnatural in this. But honestly, with these character and island names, I can do whatever I want!

Usually, I reset till I get a villager I like, but this time, I accepted the layout was almost perfect and did not care about the villagers. I'm not even sure which villagers I want in the future! Got Cherry and Flip.

The native flower is windflower which makes me very happy! I love this one, from my least favourite to my favourite!

I'll share the starting map when I would have transferred pictures from the Switch.

Just found this forum and despite restarting back in October, I want to restart again, im not happy with the layout I came up with and I fell out of love with the name, also since 3.0 dropped, I kind of want to restart again anyway.

But I am struggling with a new name.

Guess what...
I've deleted my new island.

I can't decide on a island theme, can't choose between regular (fairy, city...) or SnK island. I really want to try something related to SnK because it's more challenging, but in the same time... I don't know.

And I regret already.

Why don’t you choose a name that’s a bit more vague? Then you don’t have to commit to a theme from day one, you can get a feel for the island and go from there.

The name was vague, but for an SnK island if it's my final choice, it didn't fit.
So now I'm looking for something vague but that can be SnK related too.

A few years ago I had a town I called 20 Acre Wood. Acre Wood was very woodsy, a great little place with my house close to the pier where I could run out the door and jump off for diving or grab a trip with Kap'n. Then one morning I woke up to find they were building a hotel practically right on my doorstep! My little slice of paradise was being encroached upon by the likes of progress and capitalism (leave it to Tom Nook). I stayed for a couple of days trying to figure out how to work around the impending throng of visitors who'd be running through my front yard. I even thought about relocating to another part of town but that was the only place with such a lovely beach front. Finally, as hard as it was to do I decided to give myself a fresh start.

My new town is Up Falls, and I saved a picture from the Happy Island Designer that's really close to my map, which only took me restarting about an hour or so to find. The differences are that I have a round peninsula and Redd's beach is far right. I don't plan on doing a lot in the way of terraforming, mainly fixing up the waterfall features.

The airport is green, native fruit is pear, and native flower is the tulip. And I dare Nook to drop a hotel anywhere near my little acre of paradise. I can't say I'm really into a set theme. If it ends up being anything like Acre Wood there'll be a little of this and a little of that depending on what I have when I'm fixing the place.

I'm resetting my island again and starting from release date because that's more fun to me when I rebuild/replay. I hope we can rename our town with the next game... this time I'll aim for yellow airport, peaches and an airport that goes straight to the middle of the town hall. I will probably reset for 100+ hours... 😭 Can't wait to post my new map this summer!! 💪
