Yes, I agree. It's not the only thing they need. (I still need bat villagers) but I agree that they need more octopus ones as well.

Im surprised they haven't added more octopus characters. I can't believe they didn't add more new villagers in this game, considering we only have 8 new villagers. maybe they'll add more in future updates?

this is literally one of the cutest villager designs i've ever seen!

and i really do wish that they expanded the octopi, i don't understand why they added more to the cats and goats when there's already so many in each species.

i don't like the octopi at all, but I still find it strange that there's a species that only has 3 villagers. they definitely deserve more love! people clearly like them

For a team that loves their squids and octopi (ie. they made Splatoon and added lots of reference to it in NH), you'd think they'd make some new octopus villagers for New Horizons.
