the New Neighbor Network feels dead

I believe it's probably because it's easier and a bit more exciting to go on the island tours.
That being said, I feel like it's not completely dead but there is more activity for trading/giving away villagers elsewhere and it definitely doesn't feel as active as it was for New Leaf on BTF.

Yupp... The fact that we can now go on Island tours has opened up a possibility that was never there in NL so I think that does partly explain it.

i thought i was the only one thinking this, and then as soon as raymond is mentioned the New neighbour network POPS OFF!! i posted about audie many moons ago, and i had to void her bc of no response,

tho someone did enquire about her a day after! :(

I don't know, it doesn't seem so dead to be honest. I see a lot of posts here and yeah, some less popular villagers go voided but I believe it's because people don't really want to pay for them as they are easier to get for free... And yeah, there's also amiibo thing. Those threads with amiibo cycling seem an easier way than buying because it's not so expensive to get your dreamie there. And yeah, island hopping is fun too!

I mean, I can't blame anyone for bowing out of this market, with how crassly capitalistic AC has become. 10 tickets for something that costs 700 bells? Yes please! 🙄 For any villager that isn't one of the new 8, amiibo and NFC tags exist, and those are altogether more convenient than trying to negotiate with people.
this, i never understood this. i always figured nmt would go for the selling price in game- 10 nmt is 100k bc each sells for 10k

Giveaways villagers are taken fast and I know this cause that's what I only look at when I'm looking for a villager. That leaves me to believe that alot of these prices are expensive and auctions are a pain to participate. I think it has to do with other sites and amiibos too but I really feel for the ppl that want a specific villager but can't get it cause the price is so high. You can price whatever you want on your villagers but remember not alot of ppl can afford them. I hope I don't offend ppl with this comment...
it's funny bc apple got taken real quick, with popular villagers i always do 150 nmt MAX bc i dont like ripping people off and i hate high prices,
I also want to point out it depends how long you wait- if you wait like 15 minutes when it’s late at night you won’t get the same instant replies you would when NH came out
i do have a life, and i had to move on super fast, but this isn't about marshal alone.

I think amiibos also play a factor in this. I dont remember them being used as much a couple of years ago but now a lot of people are using amiibos so its easier to get the villagers they want. The campsite method and the island tours also make it easier to get specific villagers than NL, and now that villagers can't randomly move away people probably dont need to get a new villager as much as before.

i've seen quite a few amiibo comments, that's probably one of the biggest factors tbh.

I’m not disputing that you have a life, but I see a lot of similar threads where people wait 15 minutes or post at weird times of the day. It also depends on how many people are offering that same villager at the same time as you, there’s a lot of new people on the forum looking to sell popular villagers too- and I do agree with amiibo being a big asset

amiibo cards are ez to make now so maybe ppl just dont need villagers traded. also way easier to find a dreamie thanks to the tours. u can get tons of nook miles if u sell the right items on here or twitter or reddit.

the issue isnt really him being voided sm, just in general many good villagers get passed on and it kinda sucks bc they rock.

I totally get it. Regardless of the circumstances it's always a bummer to see villagers we know to be popluar end up being voided. I'm happy you started this thread either way because I usually have fun engaging in discussions about various topics (especially if it's animal crossing related, woo~)

Another thing I didn't mention in my original post here was all of the trading glitches that were happening in the beginning. I totally forgot about those and also believe that has played a factor into people choosing to be less active in online trades. No one wanted to risk glitching their game, and it's possible people are still holding back for that reason because of the old risks as well
