the New Neighbor Network feels dead

Giveaways villagers are taken fast and I know this cause that's what I only look at when I'm looking for a villager. That leaves me to believe that alot of these prices are expensive and auctions are a pain to participate. I think it has to do with other sites and amiibos too but I really feel for the ppl that want a specific villager but can't get it cause the price is so high. You can price whatever you want on your villagers but remember not alot of ppl can afford them. I hope I don't offend ppl with this comment...

I mean, I can't blame anyone for bowing out of this market, with how crassly capitalistic AC has become. 10 tickets for something that costs 700 bells? Yes please! 🙄 For any villager that isn't one of the new 8, amiibo and NFC tags exist, and those are altogether more convenient than trying to negotiate with people.

I thought it was just me! I feel like it def has fell a bit, a part of it being due to the amount of NMTs people have (and since they can't sell them much anymore, what else is there to use them for) and the fact that the campsite trick is getting people their dreamies faster without having to pay

I had a similar issue. I’ve resorted to voiding a couple of popular villagers because I just haven’t had the interest. This includes Zucker, Marina and Julian!

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, someone offered you 10 NMTs, you declined, then voided him.
I didn't void him on purpose, for gods sake
why would I do that when I got him just to trade
I don't want to argue, my day has sucked enough :/

I always go on TBT if I want safe trades with people, but if I'm in a rush it's rarely my to go place. So what I usually do when playing without TT is that I'll offer a villager on here for the day, and if when I check the forum on the evening I've had no interest I'll go to the ACNH discord or Nookazon to make sure my villager doesn't get voided. I moved out like 8 villagers so far and only 1 got voided (because I really couldn't bother) none of them were especially popular except 1 or 2...

I do feel like with cycling threads and amibos and everything, people can actually fulfill their dreamies list quite fast if they're actively doing it, so you'd have to be lucky to post at the moment someone was looking for that particular villager.

When NL came out, the villager trading boards were a buzz. I remember being here when New Leaf came out and people were swarming and helping each other out to get the villagers they wanted. Now that amiibo are a thing, A LOT of people have gotten cards for the more popular/wanted villagers. That, and now you can pretty much find whatever villagers you want through islands. The hardest villagers to get now are the newest ones, mainly cause they are extremely popular (except Cyd and Megan rip) don't have amiibo yet.

Fair enough - not looking for an argument, just trying to understand your point about Marshal getting voided when you had an offer on the table.

I hope your day gets better.

Take care.

I didn't find that one fair at all and wasn't getting any more offers by then, so I went to sleep... he left on his own accord when I woke up.

Right, which is what I mean...you had an offer that someone felt was fair. You could have gone back to them and at least got something for Marshal, as well as letting someone have a villager they like, rather than leaving him to slip into the void.

so basically scam myself out of a villager worth a lot?
and again, I was going to keep him longer, I didn't void him myself and wasn't planning to

Surely villagers are worth whatever somebody's willing to pay at the time you're looking to sell them? It's just the luck of the draw as to who's online and who else is selling / giving away the same villager that day.

I'm not following what you mean when you say you didn't void him - if you let the day roll over when he was in boxes, then he was going to be voided.

So I suppose you scammed yourself out of those 10NMTs you left on the table.

I guess some people are done collecting their dreamies. I'm done with getting my dreamies so I have no need to go there, maybe just see whats up but I don't need to get any more villagers since I'm not planning on selling or trading any away. Probably timezones are a big factor too

I miss running a cycle town, I wish nintendo hadnt limited the number of islands to your switch at one. I can tell you I definitely would've dropped another 70 AUD on this gd game literally just to have a cycle island and give villagers away while also searching for my own.

I think I've only managed to sell 2 villagers on these forums, one was sherb back in the beginning days and then anhka, neither for any kind of bank breaking amount. I generally ask for nmt of any amount bc I've kind of resigned myself to having to island hop for the more uncommon villagers who I want, seeing as the front page of the new neighbour network seems to have a majority of new/popular villagers.

I also live in Aus so the timezone def doesnt help me any there.
