the New Neighbor Network feels dead

Idk from what I've observed, seems like a lot of folks are waiting until the villager goes into boxes before posting about them? Which means whoever wants the villager needs to have an empty plot already. Some folks who might want the villager might not be able to get a plot open in time.

I posted my villagers for trade the moment I answered their bubbles telling them to leave, bumped the posts in the morning and evening over the course of 2 days, and they got picked up. Even Wendy who I thought no one would ever want, got picked up, close to the end of her 2-day timeframe mind you.

So your best best I think is to post as early as possible to give people as long as possible to comment/get their plots open, bump periodically at spaced-out intervals (eg. before you go to bed/after waking up) to pick up as many overlapping time zones as possible.

i think villager trading is just more fast-paced than it used to be.
SO many people on discord TT to get people in boxes/an open plot, it's just must faster to look there first if i want someone in/out quickly. that being said, there's also a lot more scamming going on and absolutely no rating system so it's a choice for sure.

I'd agree that villager trading is very fast paced. One thing that I like about this forum is that the boards can be a bit slower; you have time to really read through people's posts and consider your offer before making it. On the other hand, on a place like Discord or Nookazon, you can get multiple posts a minute!

I think that people looking to sell their villagers may perceive that there is simply more business to be had elsewhere so they sell elsewhere. It's partially a numbers game; if the Discord has many more users than this forum, you should be more likely to see more trades being made there as well.

Huh, that’s really insightful. I have to consider that next time.

Does anyone else besides me use the Search function to see if anyone's looking for the villager (Aka in the "Looking for" thread) you're trying to giveaway/sell? I'm positive at least a few recent people were looking for Marshal in there but I haven't checked it in awhile.

I feel the same way.
I originally wanted to sell Octavian but there was no interest.
So a few hours later, I made a new post and just gave him away for free. I just didn't want him going to the void.

My poor Norma did get voided though. 0 interest even though I was giving her away free of charge.

I think it's a combination of a few things - people already having ten villagers they're happy with, people switching back to other games now that this one has been out for a few months, and the pressure of getting an open slot. For me, I'm satisfied with all of my villagers but there are some I'd like to swap eventually. If I see a post for, say, Pecan then maybe I'd prefer her over Tipper. But that means I need to ask if the seller is okay with waiting, time travel for 30 to 45 minutes until Tipper asks, hope the trade doesn't fall through, and then clean up all of the weeds after. For now, it's easier just to wait until Tipper asks to move naturally. I like her pretty well anyway

Yeah, it's definitely not as quick (or at least it doesn't feel that way) as back in NL. If I have anyone I'm trying to get adopted within the hour I'll usually just tweet or go on reddit.

I noticed these forums start getting dead early. I'm in the US myself, but I've noticed it can be a lot harder to find people once it hits about 10pm (I'm in CST) for me. And, of course, the later it gets the worse it is.

I agree w the others that NNN might just be slow bc alot of people already have 10 villagers they like plus for people who dont TT villagers dont ask to move to often and theres amiibos :0

I did alot of villager trading here early on and I think there were lotsa new posts everytime I would refresh but now I hardly open the board bc Im content w my villagers/have amiibos for the ones I want next

Yep! it's a whole bunch of different factors that you have to consider. Trading is a lot more fast paced. Once someone is ready to move, they either go into boxes immediately, or by the following day. There's no week in advanced notice any more where we can make posts ahead of time to make arrangements.

There's also a lack of patience people have. Despite the fact you do have an entire day to find someone to adopt a villager, most people aren't willing to wait that long. They'll make a post and if they don't get any replies within an hour or so, they are going to void the villager.

I also think less people are looking to adopt in this game due to the fact that we have multiple ways of obtaining our own villagers (random move-ins, campsite, amiibo cards and now also mystery islands). There's also the fact that way more people are playing this game, so we have a higher chance of being able to adopt favorite villagers directly from our friends, rather than reaching out to strangers.

You also have to consider that the economy got pretty rocky for a little while and it meant only a certain handful of people could even afford to buy/adopt villagers based on the super high price everyone was charging.

awe poor marshal, you're right, people are crazy about him. In fact, according to this list, he's currently #1 in popularity right now! It's a shame no one responded but hey, maybe someone who's visited your island will get him from the void eventually!

Villager Tier List
I also agree that it's sad to see decent villagers go to the void. The only ones who seem to never suffer that fate is Raymond, Judy, Sherb, and Audie. People always reply to those in mere seconds:confused:

I haven’t used the nnn yet, but I used to give villagers away in nl on reddit, and in all the times I was trading I had 2 villagers voided (Celia and Nan, I had a few others before I was aware of online trading like wart jr, Cheri, hamlet, kody, Portia Marcel, and Sheldon...but I had a chip on my shoulder and thought no one would care for a Jock squirrel)

it’s all about time, and it’s usually why I post in the evenings, and I would love marshal on my island, if only Jacques wasn’t already here xD

I think the early market of NNN may have scared some people off. I used it once to look for Diana when I had an open slot and got EXTREMELY discouraged when the only auction for her I saw that day had someone overbid the starting bid (20 nmt) to 200nmt. My friend got her for a tenth of that on other trading platforms at the time, so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a lot of people who couldn't be high rollers just went somewhere else.

I think unless its one of the new villagers, people are less likely to buy since theres so many ways to get villagers now, esp since all the old villagers are attainable with amiibo.

A lot of the selling threads I see also have very vague descriptions of what they are looking for (like they say "just offer", or "no lowballs" or something), so I think people are hesitant to even try, esp since I've seen some where the OP straight up ignores offers but won't specify what exactly is fair to them.

TTing also seems a lot more taboo in acnh compared to acnl for whatever reason, so more ppl might be unwilling to TT to get villagers into boxes to adopt, further dropping demand.

I do however see giveaway threads for popular villagers still get responses pretty quickly (i.e. I made a giveaway thread for Marina and was able to get her to her new home in like 10 mins).

I really felt this one! I have a few villagers I'd like to swap but it's not urgent enough for me to go through the whole thought bubble time travel loop. I've done that before but found it sooo exhausting and genuinely stressful. I am sad to see a lot of amazing villagers get voided within an hour or two but given that a lot of my dreamies live with me, it takes me really long to get one specific villager cycled out.

poor Marshal got voided- MARSHAL, i always thought he was popular

I see so many good villagers just getting voided. The NNN kinda fell from grace imo, maybe timezones are a factor?
but it always feels dead regardless for me

Well you posted that thread at 9:29 PM and closed the thread at 9:43 PM. When you give people just 14 minutes to buy, I think it's kind of unsurprising you didn't get a response. Tbh between this and your best villager polls that you closed within an hour or so, you do seem a tad impatient.

But to be fair to you, I can understand that given the speed that things happen at on twitter, discord, and nookazon. I definitely know how annoying it can be to wait on someone for this game as it puts your plans on hold.

Sidenote, I don't comprehend how Nookazon calculates "average" price. I've seen some avg prices listed at 1mill bells and when I look at listings it's all "make an offer" or # nmt. It's pretty confusing to me.

There's so many sources to look for villagers nowadays, whether it's here, Discord, Reddit, Nookazon, I have a feeling people are probably testing the waters in different sites to see how they perform. I typically don't participate in auctions or sales for villagers in general, but sometimes I do like to check the forum from time to time to see what people are offering.

But as a rule of thumb, I think I'd be inclined to stay on this site if I were looking to buy or sell. I've heard of way too many scam stories occurring outside of here.
