I made a thread related to this a few days ago, and I felt like just making a new thread to go a little more depth into it. So here we are.
So, what is this challenge? Well, it really isn't a challenge to most... but it is to me. Like I mentioned in my previous thread, the way I started playing Animal Crossing New Leaf changed drastically when I joined these forums back in 2016 and I've stuck to that playstyle almost religiously since then. This "Challenge" is my way of amending that, so I've decided to do this "challenge" to give New Leaf one last hurrah and play it until New Horizons comes out.
Right, the challenge. Here's what it entails: basically, this challenge is me going back to how I use to play Animal Crossing -- just for the hell of it. No sticking to themes, hunting down 'dreamies'. Literally just playing and seeing how it goes.
What I'll be doing for this town:
So, yeah, there we have it. I'm going back to my roots here. Planning on starting it later tonight or tomorrow.
Edit: I'm also going to be doing this when New Horizons comes out as well

What I'll be doing for this town:
- I'm limiting myself to two dreamies. I can pick two villagers of my liking and adopting them. All other villagers must be obtained through natural move outs and new villagers moving in or my Camp Site until I gather 10 villagers I like.
- Absolutely no plot resetting, besides for my two dreamies. I can however place patterns around my house and to protect some hybrids area.
- No town theme. The town has to build itself. I can landscape and all that, but there will be no "this is a zen town!" nonsense. My town is gonna be a platter of "what the heck is this?!"
- BE MORE OPEN TO TIME TRAVEL. This is a big one. I use to time travel like mad when I was younger in previous titles, but ever since I joined here and I saw people's opinions on the topic I slowly started to dislike the concept of it as I considered it "cheating". Well, no longer. If I screw something up or I need to get something faster, I'm being a sneaky traveler of time.
So, yeah, there we have it. I'm going back to my roots here. Planning on starting it later tonight or tomorrow.
