The Golden Cog

In my constant struggle to increase general intelligence here, I'm starting this: The Golden Cog. What is the Golden Cog, you ask? The Golden Cog is a rating system anyone can use to rate threads they come across; whether the thread is funny, entertaining, informative, or just plain crap is up to you. Simply use these images to rate a thread:

A 5 thread is truly a well thought out post, with proper grammar, sentence fluency, and value. A must-read.

A 4 thread is a great topic to read. There may be few errors, and some value deficiency, but a great idea to check this one out.

A 3 thread is an average Joe thread. Not much value, and some errors.

A 2 thread is a poor thread indeed. Lack of grammar, almost no value whatsoever, a post you should just ignore.

A 1 thread is nothing more than spam. Horrible grammar to the point where it is unreadable, no value at all, and should be locked or deleted.

Rate on anything you want, and rate HOW you want. There really isn't any prizes, except knowing the community enjoys your threads. Plus, make a good thread, I'll give you respect, and I won't mock/tease you. That is all.

Agreed, this would be great if it were actually intergrated with the forum, but, too inconvenient.

It's a good idea, but it shouldn't be used on every thread.

Say I just wanted to ask how the weather was, or how everyone's doing (just an example), there wouldn't be a point in rating them.

But in threads that are like...reviewing a game, or stating something important, you might want to use this...I dunno'.

hmmm... sounds like a good idea.

We don't necessarily we don't need a gold cog thing, however there are addons for rating systems that could be implemented.
