Well, as many of you know, 2016 was not Kpop's year, with it being filled with disbandments, particularly of my favorite group since the spring of 2014, 2NE1.:(
So, what do you think is the future of Kpop? Even though this topic is ironic to think about, as here Kpop threads were appearing so frequently that it was annoying people so much, while now people are getting tired of all the political threads (which I agree that politics are obviously more important, but it kind of made me sense that Kpop was dying in many ways).
Can Kpop revive? I'd hate to see it die.:(

There are still plenty of great and really popular groups it's not gonna die any time soon lmao

there will always be a band ready to replace another if it were to disappear

Oh and on-topic:

KPOP is still alive , but 2009 - 2011 KPOP was the golden era that will never come back. 2015 and 2016 is the worst part of KPOP :(

If SNSD (Girls Generations) disbands I will ****ing kill myself :)

i hope they don't ;-;

also I really liked 2ne1 that was sad :(

It may die down a little, but hopefully not a lot, as some of the rookies can make more and more good songs, but the old groups definitely won't be forgotten.

there are a lot of new groups that are going to replace them, like my new favorite (and the only one i know other than wonder girls lmao) nct dream.

Kpop as a whole is reaching its swift, and long overdue, death. RIP in pieces Kpop. 2010 - 2017. You will not be missed.

I'm kidding. One Kpop group going out ain't the end of all Kpop ever. Chill.

The thing is, Kpop has existed a lot longer than since 2010. 2NE1 had existed since 2009 and BIGBANG has actually existed since 2006. 2006 was around the time Kpop became big.

Hopefully no future

Actually, i have nothing against it but i don't see why people who don't know korean obsess over it

I like few K-Pop bands, with my fav also being 2NE1. For the most part, I don't get the hype either. Some songs here and there are good but because of the amount of music and videos these bands release, the market is overly saturated. Therefore it becomes tiresome and repetitive. I don't wish for the death of K-Pop because people enjoy it. However, they can slow down a bit or the genre will burn out.

Yeah, I guess I can understand. However, like with 2NE1, I get translations of the lyrics and I like what they say, so even though I don't understand Korean (although I've tried to learn a bit ever since I made a friend from South Korea in 2013) Also, it's not my favorite genre, I love older music from the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s and even some modern American music, I just kind of feel like it's gown downhill since around 2005 or 2006. I also love vaporwave, and even some J-pop too.

I think kpop can still keep going since there's new groups coming out and what not but imo the cute girly concept has got to go (-: im quite tired of that concept

nah the cute girl concept will always be a needed niche. what's wrong with cute girls anyway?

i'd argue that's exactly why the genre has so many fans. when it's constantly pumping out music and new groups, fans feel like they have a lot to keep up with, or new groups to learn about, and it's refreshing in a sense. for someone who's a casual fan/not a fan it probably feels overwhelming, but i've never heard an actual stan complain about over saturation. if anything, the constant comebacks are mostly worrying re:idols' health

i don't think it's dying or even close to dying at all. sure there have been groups disbanding recently but there are also a lot of new groups coming out, and current groups/artists in my opinion are doing extremely well and thriving considering the records being broken.

Hopefully no future

music is a language in itself so while you may not understand exactly what they're saying, it doesn't mean you can't feel some sort of connection to it.
(also gotta remember that the lyrics aren't the only thing that make up a song)

Disappointed with the lack of mentions of Girl's Generation, they were my favorite KPOP band back in the day, ah those were the days. Around the time I wasn't anymore I heard of the heartbreaking news that Jessica (One of my favorites <333) was leaving the group. I heard she is now doing solo songs, but I'm really going to miss SNSD9.

It seems obviously by judging this comment section I seem to be the only one....
