The FINAL freaking decision! Best town name?

Oh my god I've been in conflict with this for WAY longer than I would have liked. I'm making a wildlife park town and I CANNOT come up with a good name! Initially I was going to use a native american name since most of the parks around where I live are named after tribes. However, I haven't been able to find accurate translations, and I don't want to name my town something that is not correct.

So, I've come up with a few nature/parkish names that could work. Which one do you like best?

Ah I just realized Deermount won't work because it won't fit in the character box and niether does Whitehorn.

I thought you could only have 8 characters for a town name. If so, then Deermount and Whitehorn won't fit.
I like Wolfpine and Elkstone, but ultimately voted for Wolfpine. I think it's more memorable and I'll admit that since one of my family surnames is "Wolf" I'm a bit biased. But an animal followed by a natural object would work very well for what you want to do with your town.

Deermount, even if the name length fits, makes me think of a deer's head mounted on someones wall. Whitehorn is nice; nothing wrong with it. I just doubt if the length will fit.

I would either pick Wolfpine or Elkstone, I like this two the best out of this list.

The ones that are too long are the only ones I liked. The others have a harsh contrast between syllables and sound awkward when said aloud. I guess Stagrock flows best of them.

Yeah I can kinda see what you mean. It's just so hard coming up with names that fit AND sound good! This has been an annoying process

That is so funny, in a way, because I thought the same of Stagrock! I guess it's how it sounds in our own heads when we think the name or speak it. To me "Wolfpine" sounds flowing and natural, but Stagrock is cool sounding and a bit rougher.

Elkstone is great, but I keep involuntarily picturing an elk getting "stoned" now. I see one slamming beer in my head when I read that name. Still, I do like it quite a bit, tho.

LOL. Erik'll be gettin' wasted ah I'm still so torn as now that I think about it, those names sound weird to me if I overthink them. If anyone thinks of any more names, feel free to post!

I really liked Elkstone too but voted for Whitehorn.

Whitehorn won't fit. But I'm trying to think of more names or try to use combinations even using other languages to see if I can come up with something that may be appropriate. Sleep on it for now...after all this is a name you'll be stuck with!

I'm trying to pick woods, animals, rocks, and things and then looking up those words in other languages or combinations that not only sound good but fit the 8 character limit.

At first I thought perhaps Acadia...but that is of French background, I believe, and may not be what you are looking for. If nothing else, I game this a bump for others to see!
