The effects of wand transformations on villager behaviors

Has anyone experienced what happens when using a wand outfit while speaking to a villager whom "notices" your clothes? Does the use of the wand negate villagers giving gifts that go with whatever theme of shirt you're wearing? If not, do they "see" the shirt in the transformation, or do they see the shirt underneath?​
