Animal Crossing: New Horizons has hundreds of clothing items, with many colour options. Most players like to change their appearance regularly by using a Wardrobe, Fridge, Cooler etc. However, only items in your storage can be selected via the "Wardrobe" interface - it doesn't include items on your island lying on the floor.
Now the issue is, the game actually has more clothing items than the maximum storage 5,000 slots, so sooner or later you're going to have to choose what items you store for easy "Wardrobe" access, and what items to leave lying around.
This isn't good enough! Nintendo could and should do better! The very least I expect, and players deserve, is a storage system capable of holding ALL items obtainable in the game! Not only do item entities create severe lag, but it's unsightly, especially when one of the end goals of the game is to beautify your island!
Clothing storage should be separate from item storage. 5,000 would be ample for all other items in the game if clothing had its own separate storage system. Players should be given the ability to collect every item in the game if they so wish, without having to litter their island. For a game that has around 20,000 unique items, 5,000 storage is pathetic!
I agree with you but I just deal with this by buying items and selling them. So they're in my catalog and I can reorder them if I ever want to wear them. It would be nice to have more storage. I think ACNH handles clothing and furniture storage better than Dreamlight Valley (my other favorite cozy game) though. In that game I have so many things and can never remember what I have. One thing about ACNH that is much better is that you can sell things. I hate not being able to sell furniture in other games since I sometimes buy extra things by accident.
I see your point but I wonder if its even possible for them to give you that much storage. I feel like the game has a hard enough time letting me scroll through my 4,000 or so items But you can have other characters -- maybe use them for storage?
I agree that clothes storage should be a separate space. I’d not thought about that before but it definitely makes a lot of sense.
I personally don’t have an issue with the storage space provided. I tend to order from my catalog the items/clothes I would like for that season, and once it has passed I sell them.
If they do add enough storage space to hold every item/clothing in every colour then they would have to think of a clever system to make it work. It wouldn’t be practical to scroll through so many items just to find one thing. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with the next game.
I do agree that if a game is going to have X number of unique items, it should also have the same X number of storage slots available for it. Unless it was going to be a built-in mechanism to buy, either by gacha or in-game currency, enough storage to hold all the unique items. It feels counterproductive to have so many unique items that you’re supposed to be encouraged to acquire, yet at the same time be like, OH SORRY, YOU CAN’T HOLD ALL THAT.
You can make multiple characters on each island, if you need more storage space you can always make more characters (i think you can make 4) and upgrade their houses to get extra storage space
actually i have to agree, i did actually get very close to filling up my storage, and often i remove items that i'm not currently using like :
fish, bugs, fruit, tools, random clothing items i dont neeed....but it's like...... it would defintiely be helpful to have a bit more space.
to make things nice sometimes a lot more space to organize is really helpful!
also, i noticed often if you want to change the vibe of your island, or change the theme, you have a LOT of items to remove and either sell/give away/put away in your storage. takes a ton of hard work, so i think better storage system would be good for that too.
not to mention flowers....why,, is it that if you dig them up, you have to sell them lol ( i guess it's if you have rare flowers you dont want removed completely, but....there has to some other way? i have hundreds of flowers on my island i dont need lol) (maybe it would be nice to put flowers in the storage? hm)
Exactly this. Clothing really should’ve had its own storage tab—5,000 slots just doesn’t cut it when the game pushes collecting as a core feature. Having to dump items on the ground ruins the whole point of making your island look nice.
Well, well, well... Would you look at that! A new 3.0 update coming soon adding more storage! Although I do think 9,000 is still a bit low for the amount of items, at least it's a step in the right direction! I still believe we deserve at least double that again though.
Clothing items are the real issue. The Cooler/Wardrobe only functions properly if you have clothing stored, so it makes sense that the storage capacity should be ample enough to facitate that.
It will be nice to finally be able to clean up my island floor, which is currently littered in dropped clothing items causing entity lag. 2 months is a very long time to wait though, and I'm not sure if I have enough floor space to see me through the Christmas period. Needless to say, those additional 4,000 storage slots will be filled up instantly and I'll be back here moaning about needing more space again! I had hoped that Nintendo would have given up at least 15,000 slots. I'm currently at a point where I'm willing to pay real-world money to get more storage!
