You might already know this but for the Golden Stag (and a few others) you can only creep towards it when it’s moving its pincers. I wasted so many attempts wondering why I could never get close enough before it flew off...

The rarer beetles scare so easily, I will creep at them, pausing occasionally, the moment I see one on screen.

By miss, I mean I literally swung the net from too far away. Two more steps and it would’ve landed But thanks for confirming my suspicions that it’s a super skittish bug!

I saw my first golden stag late at night when I was about to go into my villager's house before saving and quitting. I thought it was just a miyama or saw stag since it was dark, but at the last second was like "I'll catch it just in case" and thank god I did bc I haven't seem one since!!!

not the golden stag for me but the horned elephant. took 3 hours to spawn another one O_O

I've caught loads of golden stags, what I can't seem to catch without scaring it away is the Hercules beetle it's the only one I've not caught and it's my favourite... Why can't I catch it?! It never spawns and when it does I always scare it away by accident

I've misjudged the distance before, which is discouraging. Now when I'm creeping, I go until the top of my head "touches" the bug. That seems to get me the right distance.

They’re rare for sure, but I’ve at least caught and seen 3 of them. The scarab beetle and giraffe stag on the other hand... why must they torment me so!!!
