I've been terraforming my island for a little while now and got to thinking- there's GOTTA be a better way to do this. Im trying to terraform my entire island to be a lvel up cliff) but it seems impossible to do it one by one; only a square everytime. Its the same with water construction but i understand that a little more as theres less water. I think they should add a feature if they dont already have it in an update that allows u to terraform big chunks at a time. It would save so much time and be far more efficient but maybe thats just wishful thinking lol. If anyone has any tips on making terraforming easier/more efficient/faster, please drop them in this thread!

I can't help you out with the 1 square at a time issue, it's a problem for me too. What I do to save time is I picture what I want to accomplish in my terraforming and I draw a mental picture. Then I start bringing it to life, and as I do, I take screenshots just in case I change my mind at any point.

When I was first trying to find the best placement for my lighthouse, I first pictured a beach and lighthouses I've seen in other video games or shows, so I decided the placement would be near the beach and as I was creating a spot for my lighthouse, I took constant screen shots, then tried another way and took screen shots of that and compared the two to find which one I preferred the most. If I ever change my mind in the future, I still have the screenshots of my second and third favorite spots.

Also when terraforming, trapping your villagers in one spot is a must. They seem attracted to areas you're constructing on and it is a pain trying to work around them, especially if they decide to sit down. 😨

i agree that it is a tedious process, it takes so much time to raise or lower a large area. i don't think they will ever fix it though since this is just how the game works

it would b cool if u could buy upgraded terraforming tools from the nook miles shop eventually tht could do bigger chunks at a time + switch between the different tools but rn i don’t think there’s any other way to do it ):

One of the helpful terraforming tips I use is Happy island designer, it helps you plan your NH layout so I recommend this site.
Other than that, I do hope they actually make terraforming easier as well.

I would recommend planning what you want the island to look like ahead of time. Using resources like Happy Island Designer that clockwise has linked would be mighty helpful in that regard. The process of terraforming itself... it's a slow and there's no way to actually make it go any faster. I'd say just pop in some music or watch something while you work, it'll feel a little less grueling that way.

Zucker LOVES to sit in the middle of where I'm terraforming but hes so cute I just let him lol. Im going to try the taking lots of screenshots though, that sounds like a good tip, thankyou!
