If this thread was made before than I am sorry. I looked in the void of threads and couldn't find one about Tera...
SO... I thought I'd make one!

Anyone play it? I've heard mixed reviews about it.
I've been playing since it went free over a year ago but I took a huge hiatus and now I wanna get back into the game.
That means making a new character and starting from scratch.

Does anyone find this game appealing other than me? It just feels so smooth.
Granted, the cash shop is outrageous but what ftp game isn't?

my best friend made me play it a few days ago and i hate everything and its so confusing omg
the elins are cute though. i stopped playing after like..level 5. theres a new reaper class but you need a character at level 40 to unlock it. (any character tho) i wanna be a reaper theyre so cute smh
i made an arman though. its a girl and she looks pretty sick.

I have an account with a level 58 Femani so I was able to make a Reaper...
But... I just don't like them. Like, the way they did it...
Like, you HAVE to be 40 to even make one?
And then you start the game at 50 and level up at the beginning to 58?
That takes away the entire experience. I don't even like how they play.
AND THEY'RE RACE LOCKED. **** HELLA ANNOYS ME.

BUT... other than that, the game feels nice to me.
If it's confusing to ya, I could help. c:
Granted, if you wanted to play more.

omg i thought like when you make a reaper you would start at level 1. From what I understand right now they only put the level cap because the class is based off of the story line? I like fast classes like the Slayer and Reaper I guess. ( I think the reaper is pretty quick)

I would keep playing because I'm used to MMORPGs (even though I get bored of them around level 40-50) I just couldn't figure out how to equip a skill..Whenever I put it in my skill taskbar thing it wouldn't stay so I quit lol.

I started playing when they first released it (before it went F2P), but I dont play anymore. Had a max level Berserker and Slayer.

NOPE. When you come out of the beginning area of their story... you're at level 58.
I don't know about you, but I play MMORPGs to level with my friends... not start out OP.
Also, the Reapers are fast, have great skills but they just seem... I don't know...
BROKEN AS HELL. *cough*

Seriously... they have life steal and it life steals more than zerker.
Zerker is my fav class cuz I solo a lot and life steal is important to me BUT REAPER'S LIFE STEAL IS LIKE HELLA OP.

Slayer isn't as fast as you might think. They tend to get boring around level 30. I've played all classes to 30.
Slayer is just... IDK, you swing your sword and that's it, kinda thing?

Yooooo I got you if you need help. I'm not a master, but I can help with skills, game play and glyphs. :)

Just for a small comparison, when Wrath of the Lich King for World of Warcraft came out and they introduced the Death Knight class, they did the exact same thing. You came out of their storyline at lv58, ready to start off in Outland (which is where, imo, the game really started).

Yeah, I totally understand that it's for people who just want end-game experience.
But Tera did an event like that earlier last year. Where you could get a level 58 character without doing anything for end-game stuff.
IDK, maybe I'm just biased, but I like leveling and working for things myself.

I agree, I'm the same way. But some people play MMO's purely for the challenge of endgame content, and most MMOs like to try to cater to all types of players.

Yeah, I get you.
I did the event anyway, but as soon as I got on that level 58, I got off.
There's nothing to do but repeating dungeons and some events.

I prefer the game as a whole, but yeah I can see your point.

im really confused to how to equip skills.. i learn it from the teacher or whatever and its in my skill list, and i can drag it, but it doesn't stay. i put it in the taskbar thingy but it doesn't stay and just disappears. is there something i need to do or

i get really bored if i dont play mmos with friends though... im usually pretty shy so i dont join guilds or talk to anyone. i remember on one game though this guy kept following me around and called my character hot im like..uh ok

@tsundere

That has happened to me before. All you need to do is try and drag the skill to the bottom right corner of the skill box.
The gray box's outline should light up, allowing you to place the skill there. Let me know if this fails. ^^

YES I know that feel all too well!
I'm actually very social, but I'm SUPER picky when it comes to guilds.
I want a social, active, pvp, daily-dungeon/event guild. I also like the roleplaying ones too.
All other guilds hella bore me.

i second this! i would have LOVED it if it weren't for the camera controls. :(

I used to play this, but I was really disappointed at the direction that the game took once it went FTP. I had a great time until end game... but ther was nothing there for the solo player. They completely focused on raid and group content in their updates, so there was nothing for the solo PvEer. Everything required groups...

Furthermore, none of the cash shop costumes were lore friendly, so they really broke the immersion. Would it be so hard to make some fantasy-themed costumes for a fantasy game?

I played as an Aman Zerker, so it was not so that I could stare at eye candy all day.

I play it. Well, sorta. I have a level 35 elin warrior and a 36 elin priest, different servers. It's really repetitive and I am beginning to grow bored of it but I wanna make a reaper so I don't know.. what do.

The game is quite a large file, so it limits as to who can play and computer specs. I love how smoothly it runs though, and the graphics are very appealing. Elins are absolutely adorable. I played it for the time being, but it gets boring fast doing grindy quests, and I hate how its impossible to travel without running into a battle and being chased. I liked pvp in this game, it's really amusing. The mounts are really fun. The outfits are cute too. The UI is a little confusing for me to get used to though, and the placement of button commands.

I played tera during beta- and after- till about last year: then I rejoined temporarily for the new updates.

I can honestly say it was super fun- and addicting during the whole Lvl 1-6O experience. I used to be hardcore (with multiple max lvl/gear/toons) and one of the first few people running/clearing MCHM back in the day before they made that easy, along with WHHM (wonderholme hm).

Essentially: all the items that people would work hard farming-> went down; and they made the drop rate higher. and all (if not most) things that were a necessity- ended up costing an arm and a leg in that game. Their "loot boxes" were a joke too. Anywhere from an average of 45$ (if you were extremely lucky) to 200$ (and still not finding the new costume/mount/etc.) as stated on several forums. Myself included at times (having experienced both Extremely Lucky - Unlucky).

Community had its ups and downs. Aside from the usual "trolls", I met my bf as well as several other amazing friends from that game.

Overall, it's a great game; or - was - back then for me. I realized that the dev/gms really made it almost impossible for people to upgrade/enchant/re-roll gear in the game without blowing loads of $$$. And if anyone played tera end game- without having pretty nicely rolled/enchanted gear- you would find it "really" hard to find groups for pve, especially (pvp).

If you're into pvp; especially end game- tera is not for you (my opinion) unless you're willing to spend a LOT* of $$$.

Regardless- they are still updating. They recently added the long-awaited "reaper class". And I heard they were planning on releasing "new gear (yaaaay for more $$$ blowing) and instances".

Bottom line: Back in the day, Tera was reasonable; but now, (in my opinion) Unless you're willing to spend real life money on that game- you will find it difficult to truly enjoy "end-game".

If you played it before, I like to say "give it a try". Never hurts.

Tera had so much potential- but based on what i've seen and feedback from friends I used to play with- we moved on to new/or/diff games.

-Good luck if you get back into Tera- (:
