Also remember that a large amount of these teen pregnancies are due to rape. I'm sure they wear condoms, they just aren't always effective. So I don't think it is a bad thing, it just happens. Whether it is irrational, ignorant, or immature, it is still a life.

What is weird here is how that age is no longer viewed as appropriate. There used to be times where girls would be married before that. It is harder on the girl, both physically and mentally though, but all the fuss about it makes it worse people. If you really care for the girl and her unborn child you wouldn't make the girl feel like an outcast, or treat her like she did the worst thing possible. It was irresponsible, plain and simple but it is often the guys fault, and they don't live with the proof in their belly.
Western culture has done an interesting thing inventing the adolescence phase. Most other cultures just jump from childhood to adulthood, with the responsibilities. Part of the reason for teen rebelliousness in our country is because of these restrictive social clamps we place on them. It is suffocating, and can cause a lot more stress in a teens life. A period where they are expected to act like adults, yet lack the same rights as adults.
