Talking to Villagers

Why don't people want visitors talking to their villagers? I don't really get it.

Because then they can talk about them, and the dialogue gets boring after a while (e.g. the other day I saw ---- from ----. I got a real --- vibe from him/her)

Ooh I wondered this, did think it was because of the dialogue thing but wondered if there was something more sinister going on

In the old games it made a villager decide to want to move. In the newer ones, they talk about the villager. Which is meh to me. You wanna talk to them, go right ahead.
