I have finals this next week and am already stressed to the max so i want to put my town on hold for about a week or so while i study/not explode from stress/get better since i'm sick. How do i successfully do this? I know you have to stop someone from moving first before you take a break or else you risk losing someone.

Well, there's two methods. There's the one that you just stated in your post, and I will confirm that that's the only thing you have to do. The only minus to this is bedhead, but I doubt it'll be an issue. Or, you can use the activity log/write down your last play date, and when you boot up the game immediately TT back to the day that you stopped, and then go from there.

Just remember the last day you play on. Then after the period of time, change the date back to the day you last played and everything will be ok! Hope this helped! This is what I do all the time x3

EDIT: ninja'd

do i still have to prevent someone from moving before trying that? also do i get weeds/other things that happen when you stop playing forming?

You don't have to stop someone from moving with that method. You'll probably get weeds but you won't get that many if you have Beautiful Town Ordiance in effect c:

Ugh, you're not the only one. I have finals next week and then the week after that, my online classes and spring sport will start, along with school and rehearsals. I probably won't even have time to play.

I got stuck with the worst spanish teacher in the whole school too and i'm attempting to switch out of that into an internship class so i can explore my major a bit more (since the college i want to go to i'm only going to for like 3 reasons max and one of them is because they have a great program for my major) and my counselor is being so difficult with me right now :P literally so happy i don't have swim on top of that too and the ACT is in march D: good luck with your sport

Write your last game date on a small piece of paper; tuck it away; and, when you're ready to resume playing "Animal Crossing: New Leaf," you will be fine.

Good luck in your finals! d(^^)b

You can just remember the date you last played on, and after your finals, you can set the date back to when you last played it. I did this to my first town when I didn't bother with it for a month, and no one moved.

Damn this year is the first of the three that will take records of my exam results and will be passed on to University ;-;
Definitely no time to play Animal Crossing when school starts rip

That's what I do. Right now I'm taking a 2 day break. The next time I'm ready to play, I'll set my system back and pick up where I left off. I don't like to miss a day.

I wrote a guide to that here: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?209379-How-To-Not-Lose-Villagers-When-You-re-Away

I just make sure to deny someone's request to move away if it's planned or TT to the last date I played (and then wait for someone to ping me) if it's not. I included more details in the guide if you need them.

Don't forget to enable the Beautiful Town ordinance, too, if you don't want your flowers to wilt while you're gone.

thanks i'll take a look. i already have the beautiful town ordinance in effect now though C:
