Yep! I gave him away not that long ago... BUT I have his Amiibo, invited him back, and then realized I was a bit bored of him and wanted to liven things up with a new cranky. So I got Vic off someone on here (Dobie's still the best cranky, but Vic is definitely up there) and Dobie just asked to move! He is, I believe, original except for a Bottled Ship I gifted him... which looks great in his house and, IIRC, he replaced his document stack with it, which I think was a good move on his part. But I'm not 100% sure, I haven't been in his house in awhile. I don't think I've given him any clothing.
Anyway, like I said, he's totally free! He just asked to move, but I'm currently TTing, so he can be moved out anytime- but definitely sometime today- so let me know if you've got space and want him ☺
