System transfer help?

I wasn't sure which thread to ask this in so I'll put it here for now.

I've pre-ordered the new 3ds xl (happy home designer addition) and was wondering if any of you guys know if I would be able to transfer my data from my current 3ds over to it.
Animal crossing came with it digitally and I'm worried that it won't transfer my save data as when I did the system transfer from my 3ds to the xl my digital games had lost all my save data.
I'd be so upset if I lost my acnl town since I've had it since the release.

Any help?

I'm not entirely sure but I think it is possible, on the e-shop they do have the transfer tool

*And in case you're someone who is preordering the bundle and having it imported, you can not transfer games {even digital copies} over if both the DS systems are from different regions. But if they're are both from the UK, than it should work. Otherwise you could always get a physical copy of new leaf and transfer it to that as I know it definitely can transfer to a physical copy.

Unfortunately you're probably going to lose your save data. If I remember right there may be an option to back it up, but I don't know if it will do you any good during a system transfer. It's more for uninstalling games. I'd say give it a shot at least though. You really have nothing else to lose.

Hmm, should work actually. I did a full complete transfer, and although it took about 3 hours, all my VC game data was saved, however my friend did it, it took half an hour but she lost all her Pokemon X data. I think as long as you do a full transfer it should work. You an always do a SD transfer

You can also copy your SD to a computer just in case That's what I do.
