Swearing - Is it not looked down upon anymore?

LOOL Sounds like my life in a nutshell except my family curses around children and surprisingly except them not to copy

I find it hilarious when my stepdad shouts at my brother.
"Stop f**king swearing".

I've tried explaining to him what the problem is...But he really doesn't see it.

This reminds me of the time I got in trouble in school for telling the teacher I was "pissed off" at someone and the whole class oooooooooo'd me and I was like "what the **** are you all ooin' at." Had no idea I was cussing because my father swears every day, every chance he gets. Aussies, man. Needless to say I was sent into the hall.

Sometimes it just comes out lol like if I'm really annoyed or super relax I might drop the f-bomb by mistake

If I hear somebody swear I lose a bit of respect for them, even if it's someone I like.

It's kind of a moral thing for me. I just hate, hate, hate swearing.

I swear often, but not in front of anyone that's 'higher' than me. (My parents/Older family members/etc.)

I also don't swear in front of children. I don't mind it when people swear, as long as it's an appropriate time to swear.

I curse a lot when I'm with my friends. But if I'm in public or near other people (ie, family or strangers) I refrain from using any sort of harsh language because it just feels rude.

this happened to me at school once too. my laptop was really slow so i yelled 'f*** this' and everyone looked at me, but i didnt realise i swore. oh well

I'm glad it isn't. I don't swear much myself, but I used to hate it when even people my age gave me the stink eye just for saying "****" for receving bad news or stepping in a puddle.

I called a classmate a dildo once back in school.

I dunno why, he did something to at least annoy me though because I remember just saying really loud "EUGH! YOU DILDO!"

Teacher went crazy at me, shouting like "do you even know what that means!?". I didn't know what it meant or where I heard it, I just thought it was an amusing word (it is a pretty funny word to be fair).

People don't have manners like they used to. What a shame. :( Our society is very vulgar and disrespectful. I have a bad mouth when I'm angry, but I'm trying to control it. I would love to go back in time to even 70 years ago when people behaved like ladies and gentlemen.

I used to not really care about swearing, but after wanting to change my life around these past 2 months, I don't really want to hear it anymore as it just doesn't come off as very professional and it just shows what kind of a person they really are.

They are just words that were deemed crude by history. Honestly, people who use cuss words are people just like anyone else and just because they decided to swear doesn't make them less of a person.

Yea, as though people in WWII were super polite.

I can guarantee that during bombing and gun fire the soldiers were shouting "F***ING HELL!!!!!"

Hah right. Nobody was like "Hey, kind sirs, will you politely stop shooting at as and let us take over this country?? Thanks!"

I mean when people were polite in public. When people wore clothes that covered them up and left something to the imagination. It wasn't about being loud, disrespectful, and vulgar.

there is still much to be imagined, even if they have no clothes on.

trust me.

I have phases on how I'll swear.

But I never saw it as a big deal anyways. Just don't do it in front of your parents and never use it as insult to friends.

I just get annoyed when people are repeatedly swearing. It's not that I feel uncomfortable with the language or anything like that, it's just that they are swearing over and idk it's almost boring at that point. Like I completely lose all interest in what they are saying if they are going to say the same word every five seconds.
