So I use the digital version of ACNL and like 6 months ago, I backed up my 3DS SD card.

I was wondering what would happen if I put my back-up data on a new SD card and put that in my 3DS... would my animal crossing data continue from where it was backed up 6 months ago? or would it screw things up?

I'm too scared to try it xD

I'm pretty sure it'll corrupt your town. No proof of that, but it seems like we would have heard of people getting back someone who went into boxes by restoring old data.

Hmm... that's true... But I just can't see how it would be able to differentiate between the two sets of data.

Another thing is, if people corrupted, they'd restore from backup, but that never happens. Someone needs to try it with a town that doesn't matter. Maybe start a town, back up your data, wait until someone moves in, and then restore and see if you are now with five and not the new guy.

It would be cool to try... but I don't have a spare digital version of the game xD

But how many people are actually backing up their SD cards? It took me ages to copy it over to another one xD

Well, it's time stamped.

What's time stamped? Surely you could change the date on your 3DS to the day the data was backed up. That way the system wouldn't know any time had passed??

There's this question on the stack-exchange, and...

...a guide here on how to transfer data between SD cards.

Surely, the 3DS would just think it's the normal data...

So many questions xD I might have to email Nintendo
