Suspicious trends on Nook Cranny forum?

Maybe i'm just being extremely cynical but the patch is a little over 48hrs? (is it even?)
and i'm already seeing multiple threads selling *stacks* of pearls which is a little suspect.
The stickied thread atop the channel itself is clearly stating selling duped items is frowned upon, and while there is no sensible way to tell if an item is duped for sure...
some things can be a little more obvious than others?

is it just me? or did TBT just give up entirely on the trading community?

I don't, but I think it's possible if you TT a lot... You just have to open the game, catch a scallop and pascal will be right over with a DIY or pearl

Yeah sometimes I do wonder how people get so many in such a short time when it took me a good 30-40 mins just to spawn Pascal!
But maybe they got it from trading elsewhere (discord/nookazon) and decided to resell it here to make some tbt? ‍♀

I guess they could be duped, but maybe they just got a lot of them from time traveling or such? I don't really like to accuse people of things without solid evidence, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

scallops yeah but I didn't get a pearl every single scallop I got. I got a handful of pearls and stuff through TTing but not...several...stacks?

I got Pascal first scallop found two days in a row. Also the first thing I caught was a pearl. So it might not be as difficult for some. With some dedicated time travel just to exploit the market while it's new, I can see people having stacks.

I'm a TTer and I find it weird how some poeple can have ALL the recipes and STACKS of pearls. That takes alot of dedication, playtime and some luck. On this site I assume people just play extremly hardcore but when I see stuff like this on other sites, I stay away. Not that I'm against duped/cheated items, but people (again, not on this site) can be suspicious.

the auto saving duplication using auto save will always be active, we need to save, and they can’t stop people that want to take advantage of that from closing the game in the middle of a game. it’s existed since city folk, and there’s no end in sight ;o;

Pretty sure the duplication bug has been fixed but hacking is definitely still possible. I saw sketchy instagram accounts offering the entire mermaid set for real money like 2 hours after the update was released.

I've seen people offering all the diys, all the items, and like 150+ pearls in like less than 24 hours after release.. which I find extremely unlikely to be possible through just TTing. Esp since to offer both the DIYs and items, they would need to get all of the DIYs twice.

Like lets say it takes 10 mins avg (which is already a very generous timeframe imo) to TT to a new day, and find pascal so he can give you a recipe or pearl (since the chance of finding one diving seems to be around 1%, and I highly doubt people would bother farming this way to sell them).

10mins*150pearls = 1500mins
1500mins/60mins per hour = 25hrs

And this isnt accounting for the times youd need to run into him for him to give you a DIY.

Obviously it's also possible they're trading on other sites for them to sell here, but who knows

Pascal hasn't given me any pearls but I have caught about 8 and I didn't play for long yesterday. So it is possible to get more than one a day. Not so much for DIYs though.

Without TTing, since the patch came out, i collected about seven pearls. The first day I got four pearls; I was diving from the minute the patch came out 9 PM EST to the time I went to bed (3 or 4 AM). My guess is that a lot of people are just TTing and/or spending hours diving, though I’m not denying the possibility that some may be hacking. I don’t like to accuse people without solid proof.

They only need to find it twice if they want it themselves.

A friend of mine used to trade in Celeste recipes. She only gives you DIYS you don't know until you have all of them. So he never learned the high demand ones (Nova Light, the chair, etc) so Celeste would always give him those DIYs for him to resell on Nookazon or Reddit.
