Surprised by who your character's best friend is in the game?

The other day, when I celebrated my birthday in my first town (Westerly), I was surprised to learn that my best friend in the game was Coach, my jock villager. To be fair, though, I actually love him a lot (more than nearly everyone else does) and he was also one of my first five villagers when I started playing nearly a year ago. Also, apparently, my two snooties, Bree and Maelle, aren't far behind him because they were at the party as well.

Have you ever been surprised to learn exactly which villager is your best friend?

In my cycling town, it was Ken, the villager I wanted to get rid of the most. He eventually left, but it took almost 3 years of cycling for him to do so. It was crazy...

I wasnt surprised- my party was hosted by Tank, and attended by Rizzo and Drago (but i'm bummed Drago moved out during a time-travelling mishap).

I was shocked though at Valentine's Day that my chocolate heart came from my uchi villager Rocket! I was expecting, well any of the other female characters!

I haven't had a Birthday in y new town, but in my old town it was Kyle the smug wolf, which I found odd because I didn't talk to him nearly as much as Molly or Peewee (who were also at the party). I loved him a lot, but it did seem funny! Guess he's just one of those people you don't need to talk to a lot to have a strong bond with!

THREE YEARS!!!! I hope Colton doesn't take that much effort to leave... he's already been in town far too long. Phoebe, Wart Jr, Kid Cat & Tangy all ask to leave at least twice...but he's all like naww I'm gonna be staying right here all comfortable like...

I thought that figuring out who's your best friend in this game is by how often they show up in your starting screen. It's not something that's confirmed, but that's my theory. Who shows up the most when you start up the game? Is it Coach?

I won't be surprised if Bam, Genji, and Fang showed up in my birthday, because they're the ones that show up the most whenever I start the game (ESPECIALLY Bam). In my previous gameplay, Doc and Groucho shows up the most, because they were the ones I always interact with. I haven't reached my birthday yet in the game, so I dunno.

Nahh, doubt that since it's based on times the villagers are awake etc. I play early in the morning a lot, so the jocks are mostly on my starting screen, but I talk to Grizzly (cranky), Hugh (Lazy) and Baarbara (Snooty) much more, and get more letters etc. off them.

I didn't know villagers who turn up at birthday parties are usually your best friend. The one who turned up at mine are, ankha, tabby and Octavian. Wish zucker was there.

Nahh, doubt that since it's based on times the villagers are awake etc. I play early in the morning a lot, so the jocks are mostly on my starting screen, but I talk to Grizzly (cranky), Hugh (Lazy) and Baarbara (Snooty) much more, and get more letters etc. off them.

Maybe... I play in the afternoon when all villagers are awake, but Bam's still the one that shows up frequently. When I played earlier, like around 7 AM or 8AM, Fang's house shows up plenty of times even when he's still asleep.

I always talk to Bam, even during Harvest Festival he's the one I keep on giving ingredients to.

Your birthday party isn't necessarily hosted by your best friend. If you start the game on your birthday, a villager will be at your door to take you to a surprise party. However, if you don't save and you start over, a different villager might be at your door.

Yep, I was surprised. On my birthday my characters bestfriend was Pecan, even though I always thought I didn't talk to her that much and I thought it would be either Chief or Pekoe.

Yeah, you're right. I'd had Winnie for 3 days when she hosted my party.

I do know for a fact your best friends will send you letters and gifts and randomly barge into your house when you just wanna redecorate. lol So going by that, my best friends in Tadfield are Sterling, Chief, and Fang. Haven't played in Sonata long enough to have a best friend, but I'd say Apollo is getting really close.

In my previous town it was Beau. He used to come to my house so often that it sometimes got irritating. I lost him though due to a TT accident. In my new town though, it's Diana. She's just as lovely.

mine is beau, which didn't surprise me. however i was hoping fauna would attend too, but she didn't.
after all, she did only move into town a few weeks beforehand but we were best friends in my old town.
