Anyway, my dad plays Donkey Kong (Don't ask me why :S), anyway, so does my brother. And they're so stupid at it. They have hisse fits because they don't go fast enough (so they roll) and i'm just like "I've said it 1,000,000 times, just press 1" but they never listen - it's so annoying, my Dad is up to the Ruins now (it takes him like a week to do one level...) and he's doing Temple Topple - where you need Rhambi to run on the faking platforms... So he shakes the Wii-Remote to go fast, then he loses control and dies, the he swears, and again I tell him to press 1 and he wont listen.. It's so annoying because then he goes off at me because he died. But it's heaps funny.

Anyway, to get to the point of this thread, does stuff like this happen to anyone else's friends/family?

lololol

Yes, and it's usually Turn Based RPGs, such as Paper Mario.

Don't even get me started on Pokemon...

Lol, back when FireRed and LeafGreen was released. My brother had been playing Pokemon since the first day Pokemon Yellow came out, and anyway, in FireRed he chose Charmander (he always chooses fire, as I usually almost always choose grass, good HP absorbers they are!), anyway, he taught Charmander Metal Claw, and for some stupid reason, he always used Ember when he was battling Brock :S I was like "Steel is super effective against Rock" and he just kept using Ember and then he has a massive tantrum, and threw the game across the room.. then 1 week later he went on again and used Metal Claw and one first time. Then on my friends LeafGreen, he is so stupid, he isn't even my friend anymore, anyway, he chose Bulbasaur, and by the time he was up to battle Misty it was already a Venusaur... and he only trained Venusaur, and then eventually, he got to the Elite-4 and was like "... I need to catch me some more Pokemon" stupid person.

Let people play games how they want to play them. Man, my mom grabbed pokemon gold from me like twelve years ago and reset my game, started her own, and then gave up after the first two towns, but I really didn't care to begin with because she was trying to relate to me on a game that I actually liked. The point is to let them play and let them enjoy something how they want to or else you'll probably just end up making them give up.

I'm the only one at my house that's into video games. It can get pretty lonely sometimes, though.

Poor child, my brother never want's to do 2-Player, really annoys me. I know what it's like.

Lol now my dads up to the bird with bombs boss and he's going psycho!

no

sounds like you need to show him by having him watch when you play. unless he's jumping at the end of the rolls like a pro, in which case, oh sh-.

I have a videogame nerd-little sister.
Lucky, huh?

And Jake, the only way to get him to play right is going Professor Oak on him and teaching him, like I do to my sister.

This. Games are for entertainment, if they're enjoying the way they're playing it that's all that matters.

right, but (though jake is being aggravated about it which is lol) he's just trying to help his dad enjoy the game by helping him to do something very simple - run. which is necessary at the point his dad is at.

sure, his dad is enjoying himself, but he COULD be enjoying better control over the game, being able to get past the level he's' ramming his face into for a week, etc.

i dunno. if he's having fun, that's fine, but if he's getting aggravated because he isn't holding down one button.. i think he should just listen to the person trying to help him. BUT THAT'S JUST ME.

Yup, you're 100% correct. He has fun playing it, too.

well then, that's all that really matters.

if he is getting frustrated and just not taking your advice, he's just missing out on an opportunity for help.

either way, calling your parents stupid for not agreeing/giving in to what you're telling them isn't very far from stupid, yourself.. but who's to judge, mirite.

Most the games I have are single player, all which are really fun. If I am not playing, I am watching someone. Normally watching my girlfriend, which can be real frustrating sometimes. I got her into ACB, and sometimes I try to help her with something thats frustrating her, but she wont let me because she wants to figure it out. I just end up leaving the room or getting my laptop so I don't get frustrated from watching her being frustrated lol...
