Stump Patterns

Can I not make stump patterns on coconut and banana trees?

I was going to make a cool little hangout place on the beach with little stumps to sit on, but when I chopped down one of the trees with a silver axe, no pattern. Is this normal?

If they really can't have patterns, then that really sucks. They're trees too D:

Thonky's guide doesn't mention the beach-trees, so I doubt there can be any. The stumps they leave behind are of different kinds too, since they're, well, different kind of trees. The makers probably didn't think of adding it in since it's weird to have mushrooms growing in the beach (one of the reasons to have different patterned stumps).
