Studio Ghibli

gutted that they're stopping but maybe it's for the best, i mean it was already common knowledge that Hayao Miyazaki was retiring after The Wind Rises was made, and i'd rather Ghibli stopped making movies for good than watching their style and trademark change or the seeing quality of their films godownhill under the guidance of somebody who isn't as good as Miyazaki

because let's face it nobody's gonna be as good as him

I mean the reason they're doing it is low box office revenue for their last two films, and there isn't really anything you can do about it - if they're losing money, they can't pay their animators, and I'd rather they not decrease the quality of their animation for the sake of budget.

we all should have a Ghibli marathon were we watch Ghibli films and talk about it

They made people cry and love their films, there was just so much feels and they're just gonna stop making them -rolls around the floor- I wish a miracle would happen ~

Saw a post about this on Tumblr yesterday and realized while I've heard of a bunch of their films I've never actually seen one. Although I've been meaning to watch Kiki's Delivery Service since I've seen some people mention it here.

Well this is the first I've heard of this news, but it does make me a little sad. When I was younger, I'd watch Studio Ghibli films over and over because I loved them so much. The artwork and stories were just great to watch and the music - really fantastic. I'd never get tired rewatching Howl's Moving Castle or Castle in the Sky.

I was the same with spirited away as a child haha. I love the strong emotion in that movie (as well as others)

Agree with what others have said it. It's very sad news, of course. But I'd rather see Hayao see it out himself then just have the company go downhill and fizzle out. At least this way they are taking the time to figure out which direction to continue, if at all.

And for those who haven't seen any Ghibli films yet, what are you waiting for?! ;) My favorites are My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle.
