I want to try out as many little ghibli references in my town as possible! but i'm having trouble thinking of many that can actually be made in the game

so far I've got-

leaf umbrella at the bus stop (totoro)
raccoon figure (pom poko)
there's lots of chopped bamboo around town (kaguya)
my second character's kitchen will have pancakes at the table (kiki's)
violin (whisper of the heart)
dollhouse (arriety)
bicycle (poppy hill)

I'd love to do Howl's bathroom but it wouldn't look messy like his so nah

can anyone think of anything else?

You could have gyroids around town to resemble these guys: https://media2.fdncms.com/chicago/i.../magnum/17623573/princess-mononoke-magnum.jpg

Oh and lots of food items are a must... food always looks so delicious in ghibli films.

the kodama! that's such a good idea! now i need to search through all the gyroids to find the ines that sound and look the most like them!

I'm probably gna watch a couple of the movies tonight n note down foods/plants and any other lil bits and bobs I could try add

tysm!

Omg, it would be cute if you had the little zodiac dragon in your house! Like Haku from Spirited Away :3 Or a lil bathhouse room!

I can put the bathhouse room where I origionally planned to put howl's bathroom! and I' sure I can find a space for a zodiac dragon! ty!

i squealed when i saw the name of your thread hehe i love the ghibli movies
ideas:
- for a howl's moving castle reference, you could have a fireplace (calcifer), and put a hot plate (its the one w the egg on it) somewhere near it? like on top of the fireplace or on a table right in front of it?
- for ponyo, a goldfish?! (plus the goldfish bowl is actually cute thank god)
- ooh if you have the space, use qrs to make the train-tracks-submerged-in-water from spirited away!

hope those helped a bit! :)

Yes, Food.

If you have a qr pattern for water, you should TOTALLY do Ponyo references. Able to hack? Move a house into the water! :P

I love them too! ty! I dont really plan on putting any extensive qr patterns outside, but everything else definitely!

OMG I was working on a Studio Ghibli town! I only stopped because it was getting a tad stressful (I'm a bit of a perfectionist). I was making houses into Studio Ghibli ones though, which is a bit different from your project, but here's some advice for that. The items fit perfectly for Howl's castle (even the exterior - I think I had the super lopsided roof thing), like Calcifer's furnace, the big messy table (Natural Table), the piles of food, stacks of books, and medicine cabinet. The exotic set and all the different plants are great for Howl's bedroom; the claw foot tub and retro sink and bathroom shelf for the bathroom; and a combination of classic/green sets for the kitchen. I made the other resident's house into Kiki's house before she moved out (i.e. her mother's place). Again, all the plants, green set, mush set, easily make it into an apothecary!

PS Love your bus stop idea by the way!

Ooh I forgot to mention that all the hats and mannequins can be used to make Sophie's hat room

tysm for all this!! my second character's house is going to be a modern witch's house ft a bathhouse room, so I can try get the exterior to look as much like Howl's castle as possible! I can definitely try and fit a lil hat station in my main room (like the counter in sophie's bedroom where she's sitting at the start of the film)

You could try:

Sacks of bells/aluminum briefcase of money (Lupin)
Green striped shirt/plain shoes/pink shorts (for Chihiro's outfit?)
Something like a sewing kit, the picnic basket could probably work! (for No Face/Zeniba?)
Maybe put a stack of books/homework set for writing next to Seiji's violin (to represent Shizuku?)
Cat figure?/lucky cat (Baron)

Or if you wanna go all out, get Kiki as a villager? It says on the wiki that she could literally be a Ghibli reference since she's a black cat. XD

This is SUCH a cute idea! Omg I wish I had thought of this hahaha

tysm! I will try my best to incorporate these!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned using the lighthouse as a pwp for Ponyo by the Sea.

I'm actually ashamed of myself for not thinking of that, but it's probably since I decided ages ago that I didn't want to place it in my town..

I am planning on putting in the windmill once deirdre requests it, which could be a reference for nausicaa!

ahhh I don't really have any ideas, but I just wanted to drop in and say that the idea of this town and all these suggestions are amazing haha~ If you ever put up a dream address I'll definitely visit - I love ghibli films! ;u;

Get a sea globe and pretend Ponyo is in there.

You can also make villagers' catchphrases and greetings lines from your favorite movies.

Maybe move the villager Kiki into your town? She reminds me of the cat from kiki's delivery service, and her name IS kiki!
