STUCK WITH TOWN LAYOUT!

So i'm trying to develop my town into a modern town. I have a basic path layout but I've encountered issues with how it is. I really want to make good use of all the space available but I really just don't know how to fill it in!

If anyone's got any good advice or anything please let me know!

It's quite hard to tell without pictures. Why does your path layout not work? Is there a certain bit of your town you feel like you can't get to?
