Stuck at 9 villagers

Hi, I'm unable to purchase any more plots from Nook and I had a camper that would not move in. Am I missing something?

Have you double checked that there isn't an empty plot somewhere?
If you have nine villagers, you won't get a random move-in into the tenth! It will stay empty until you invite someone in

And I have been told that sometimes campsite visitors will not move in even if you have space (unless it's an Amiibo scanned in, in which case they can move in on the third day you scan them in)

Check your island map for a yellow square, that's likely an empty plot.

I figured it out! There was a plot I didn't notice on my map
