So I bought ACNL on launch at midnight and have been playing ever since then. I haven't pick it up in over a year though, and every time I turn it on I just turn it off 5 minutes later. Its so hard to get back in to when I've played so much of it already but I still have an Animal Crossing itch to scratch. Any suggestions? Thinking that maybe I should nuke my town and start over but I have so many things I'll probably never get back.

This works for me EVERY time. Going back to an old town that I havent touched in forever...i just turn it off within minutes lol.
if you dont wanna start over your OG game file...spend $20 and get another copy. I don't have hacks and I've spent $40 on two extra copies for two extra towns and I love it so much.

Yeah, start a new town. You may be losing a lot of items, but there are ways to get them back (purchasing them from others, even if they are obtained through 'shady' means). A lot of them can be obtained from RVs as well now. But a new town will definitely help refresh the game for you.
I make a new town every start of a new year! Really helps. Although I plan on sticking with my current town until a new AC game is announced.

I think that the best way is to start over your town for a breath of fresh air ;v;
You could also ask someone to hold all of your items for you while you reset if you don't want to lose them ^^ otherwise, you could just get a new copy of the game if you'd like to keep them along with your town entirely.

if you really want to keep your town like stackhouse said you could try and make yourself a new goal like redesign your town or something but like everyone else in the past i have just done the remaking. if nook buys your house it's also a way to get back into things a little easier because then you don't have to worry so much about having a small house in the beginning and stuff

yeah i ended up having to start a new town and i love it. you could get a friend or someone on the boards to hold some things u want to save while u reset, then go back and get them once u are finished.
Start a new town. You’ll get back into it that way. Also, have someone hold the items and bells you do not want to lose. You’ll be able to pick them up after starting your new town. That way, you will not lose any items or bells you worked hard for!
