That's 2 wasted hours out of my life trying to get a string fish for two meow vouchers! still didn't catch it Grrrrrr

If an initiative asks for a really rare fish or bug, it's better to just skip it. It's stupid that you get 2 MEOW coupons for the initiative for catching a stringfish, but you also get 2 MEOW coupons for the initiative for just mailing 5,000 bells to yourself.

I spent a few hours trying to find one as well and then gave up. Then around 3 hours later there was one just there in the pond! Caught it, happy days.

I didn't really care about that initiative, until I was putting some more paths down and I saw a big shadow of a fish in the river and boom it was the string fish.

My ponds have no fish I don't know why. Seem so useless.

No fish spawn in the small ponds during the winter months, but if you don't have the beautiful town ordinance, then the small ponds are a good place to find boots, cans, and tires.

Um, what? But moridb said stringfish can only be caught 1% in sep, I also caught a tuna in winter and moridb said summer and its the same with the football fish, what the heck???

Funny you mention it. I caught a Stringfish completely by chance when I wasn't even looking for it. :)

If moridb says those things, then it's way off for fish.

agreed
i recommend, if you have some sort of smart phone that can download apps, getting the ACNL Guide. the info is mostly accurate, and you'll be able to check which fish is available each day, and the whens/wheres of it all.
disclaimer, like i said, it is mostly accurate. for example, sometimes it'll say that the coelacanth is available in my town on a perfectly sunny day :,) i mean, i suppose it IS a year-round fish, but, uh... not when the sun is shining and the bird villagers are chirping.

I think the thonky guide is the best fish guide. I have a few fish guides listed in the link in my signature and I think they're mostly reliable.

I caught two today but seriously initiatives like this should be worth so sooo many more coupons

thonky is my fave place for all guides tbh.
