Streetpass question

I have a second copy of the game on its way to me, and I've been wondering: I have been playing a download copy of the game (I have the 2DS XL Animal Crossing version, so it came with the game installed) and now have a cartridge on the way. If I streetpass someone when I have the cartridge in, will the houses show up in the Happy Home Showcase of both towns?

I can't say for sure, but based on my experience with Streetpass and having multiple towns, (none of them download), no, you will not have a Streetpassed house in both HH showcases.

You get Streetpassed once, and once you play one of the games, the Streetpass goes for that town. Even if you don't check the showcase, you still made that town receive the Streetpass. You can play in the other town but it won't receive the Streetpass, due to the other town 'claiming it'.

Okay, I see! So say I find a notification of a successful streetpass, I should then first start up the game in which I want this house to appear.

Yup, cause that town will take the Streetpass, so the other town won't get it. And don't forget to check the showcase too, I often forget X)
