You can turn off StreetPass for any game you wish in your settings. I did this the other day for a Bravely Default demo since I never play that anymore and the blinking green dot was getting annoying. Yes, you miss out on StreetPass items (balloons, bubble wands, etc) and those houses in your HHA but you'll have to decide what's more important to you. I love the part of the game that allows the towns around you to influence your game, but if you don't you can turn it off.
