Alright, so today I got Street Fighter IV (not Super) and I'm having the greatest difficulty figuring out how to use the Super and Ultra combos. (This is on Playstation 3, by the way) So it says to move the control stick in a half-circle like motion twice then press a punch. I've done that so many times and nothing happens. I'd really appreciate help with this because it's so hard to play without combos. Thanks!
Well, you're not quite doing it right if they aren't happening.
I know what you're talking about though, I have it on xbox and sometimes moves just don't pull off.
My advice is go into the practise area, where you just keep hitting Dan in the face with whatever moves you want. (he wont fight back, or at least shouldn't)
Also, use some of the easier characters like Ryu and Ken, as these characters wont have charge moves. (The simple quater circle.) And work with these to just do hadokens, and other moves like this.
As to how I would do an ultra/special is, as I've reached the end of the first quater circle relax the stick to the centre. Rather than bringing it diagonally down again.
If you still can't figure them out, or need anything else... PM me.
So practice makes perfect? I just thought I was doing them wrong and man is it hard when the buttons you use to do combos are also the buttons you use to move. It's like, what am I doing for sure? And when you have to charge it then make a Z with the control... Couldn't they have made it easier xD
Yeah, just stick with it. Keep doing trials and things like that.
The simple charge moves are fine, so are the ultras that go left and right only... but you already have seen the *censored.1.3* that are Vega's and Guile's. (and a tip for these, you can charge in the crouched position, so down and back.)
Also, Zangief's is annoying. If you want to try that, assuming that is the two full circles... try jumping and doing that one. As you'll normally jump from standing.
You said Half-Circle then 'A Punch' its not just any punch, its all three punches [or kicks depending on the character]. On the Xbox controller a Super Move would be pulled off with the stick motion and either the right bumper or right trigger [depending if its a kick or punch] with ultras its left bumper/left trigger [once again depending on what character you chose]. I'm not sure about the PS3 version but I imagine its similar.
