For clothes, I TT to 4:55, save, send them a letter with whatever I want them to use, then wait till 5PM and check on them. If they have their new clothes on, I save and carry on.

With furniture, this is a little more trickier since they need to be inside their homes, so you might need to quit many times.

So, If I send the letter at 4:55, then save again at 4:59, does it lock in a single option (aka it won't change around anymore)? Or they might change the position of the furniture/ the furniture itself?

I used to old method to put Rudy's bed back and it worked, but Molly put that horrid paulownia closet in her house, and to top it off put her cute dandelions in it (they were in her classic table before).
I don't know how to take that thing away.
I tried sending another classic table with the new method (saving at 4:59 to make it quickier), but saw no changes, and now I'm not sure if it's because:
it locked in a single option and it was the "don't do anything" option
or
if it's because she already has a classic table in her house and she change her old classic table for the new one
or
it didn't change anything

Any other tips for fixing villager's houses are much appreciated! They suddenly stopped pinging me to visit their houses ):

edit:
I was reading this again and it sounds a bit confusing

My question is

When the games decides if they will be using the clothes or not/ will be putting the items in their houses or not / the position of the items? Right after I send the letter OR after they receive the letter (5PM)?

I think it's locked when you send them the letter. At least, based on my attempts to change their clothes and furniture.

When I discovered that method, I used to save after sending the letters and I noticed that they wouldn't really change from their initial choice even when I reset. I had a really frustrating experience once, when I bought a shirt from a villager and was trying to send them a small piece of furniture so they could fill up that spot. Every time I entered their house, the item was always in another spot that never changed.

Every time I've saved before sending the letter, I've gotten better results. Even if they put things in the same place more than once, after a few attempts they'll change it up at least once (unless it's the only place they can put the item, of course).

I only really use this strategy now when I'm in a hurry or when I want to send them furniture or clothes as gifts but don't want them to mess up their house. When I do it, I always save after writing the letter so that I won't have to write it several times.

If I just want them to change into a new shirt because it would look better, I do something that also requires some patience but which I like better, since I don't have to run to the post office and track down that villager on top of it. I empty my inventory other than the shirt I want to give them and talk to them a few times, until they ask to buy or trade the shirt. After that, if they don't wear the shirt and just put it away, I quit without saving and try again.
