I got Superstar Saga (The first Mario RPG for GBA) while with my dad and now I'm about to get Bowser's Inside Story with him.

Not really.
He's there when you bought 2 games.
I could say that it's a coincidence I've bought the last 5 or so games with the same friend of mine there. It's not though, we both enjoy playing videogames.

I don't see how it can be awkward when it's your Dad.
Unless...
1- You've hidden that you play games from your Dad forever.
2- You had gone out in that nightmare scenario, where you have left the house only wearing underware/nothing at all
3- Your Dad has one out in that nightmare scenario, where you have left the house only wearing underware/nothing at all
