Stop them from moving when they are in boxes?

Can you stop residents from moving once they are in boxes?

Used to be able to in Wild World (not sure about City Folk), but they changed that for New Leaf... Now if you want them back, there's a 16 villager cycle...

So I have to go through 16 villagers in order to get him back? D:

Unfortunately... Not one of the best features to change, though... But I think it was made that way for more wireless communications.
