Starting new game - move stuff?

Hi - I've decided to purchase a second copy of Animal Crossing and start my own island (conflicts with other players in real life). Is it possible for me to create my new island on my new game, and then have my old character from the first game visit that island and leave lots of stuff there for my new player? Can I load up my pockets and just dump stuff?

Is there any better way to do this? Thanks!

Ya need a second switch to make a second island (I’m heavily contemplating this because I have so many ideas for an island that I can’t do when you share an island.)

If you have a second switch it would be possible to open up your new island to your old character to drop things off. It would be possible for your new character to visit your old island and fill their pockets as well if you drop all the items you want outside!

why would i need a second switch, as long as i have a second copy of the game? Can't I just establish the island on the new game, then save/close. Go to the original copy of the game and log in as my old player and visit the new island i created? is that not possible?

The island is locked to the switch not the copy of the game.

From what I know, the save data is stored on the switch itself, not the chip. I would’ve made my own island a long time ago if it was stored on a chip.

No, it's not possible. Even if you could have two islands on one switch (unfortunately you can't!), how would you maintain the connection to fly over to your other island while having to close the software and open it again? You wouldn't be able to do that anyway!

So my new character on the second game can't invite my old character from the first game? Sorry for the newbie questions - I'm still figuring a lot of this stuff out!

One island per Switch, regardless of how many copies of the game you have. You would need a second Switch to accomplish what you're seeking to do.

Your first and second game will access the exact same island, and it doesn't matter that one is digital and the other physical, or if you had two physical copies.

No worries! I just wish it worked out the way you’re thinking. I wanted to go with a SH island so bad (I like unique things like that) but since it was a gift for my parents we went with an NH island. Like I said before, I’m thinking of getting a switch lite so I can have an island to myself.

My daughter's island is in the Southern Hemisphere, mine is in the Northern. It's terribly convenient when it comes to catching fish/bugs/sea creatures. It is a bit cheeky, I know, but better than time traveling :)

I know I love to travel to SH islands for a quick cheeky fishing/foraging trip myself. If I do go along with my plan I’ll likely help peeps with things like that.

So in other words, even if I buy a second copy of the game, i'm stuck playing in the same environment the other players in the original game created? I don't start from scratch?

It wouldn't behoove you to buy a second copy of the game. I'd try to see if you could find someone to hold onto your items for you and restart your island. I think that's your best bet!

The problem is, the other players are a lot more serious and intense about the game than I am. If I play 3 - 4 hours a week, that's a lot. If I build or move something, everyone gets pissed at me. I can't do much of anything without getting grief, so it's just not very enjoyable. I was hoping to start with a clean slate for myself, and leave them to their own island. Not doable?

This is correct.

I think I understand now, you must be playing with multiple people on one device. If you bought a second copy of the game, you cannot have a second island. The only way to do that is to buy another switch/switch lite and start a new island on your own. Sorry! :(

Long story short-without a second system, yeah. I’m sorry about that; I’m actually kinda the opposite. I’m the most active one on AC right now, but I need to make sure that staples like fishing are unhindered so my parents can enjoy their gift. I like my bit of the island but I feel like I’m kinda cramped with what I can do in-game.

Here's another quick one - is the Switch Lite the same as the Switch, in terms of working in the dock? If I buy a Lite, can I pop it into the bay for the full Switch that we have?
