An original inspired by St. Augustine, FL, where I happen to be right now and will be for the next couple of days... St. Augustine is a city originally founded by the Spanish, so most of the buildings are hundreds of years old. As such, the mood of this piece is nostalgic and a little playful (I segue into multiple keys -- A major/minor, E minor, and F minor, among others).

Also, given how old the city is, I tried to musically capture the passage of time by reharmonizing the opening melody twice, a technique that I hope adds harmonic interest to the piece. Please excuse the cicada noises in the background, I'm afraid I wasn't able to edit them out. Hope you enjoy the piece regardless!

You may not like his style of music, but you can't deny the fact that he's really good. B)

Well, most people's musical tastes tend to ... mature in time. ;)
If anything, that sly dig at me was more immature than anything else I've posted on this forum.

Maybe not anything...but some things, for sure.

alright, first off the cicadas weren't bad at all, they sort of added a more natural effect, but the piece as a whole just didn't flow with me this time through.

lol at the cicadas stopping all of a sudden, was it a bird or something?a bat maybe?

Haha, I live an hour away from St. Augustine. I might stalk you. =P

Having been there, I think your music captures the feeling of the city, it sounds like something you would definitely hear there. Nice work!

Actually, it wasn't meant as a diss. I used to hate a ton of genres before discovering certain musicians. Couldn't stand prog rock/jazz fusion before discovering Frank Zappa and Al di Meola, respectively...

Also, I appreciate negative comments, but only constructive ones. "I don't like your music" isn't particularly constructive...

Thanks for the comments everybody, I appreciate 'em.

Haha yeah, the bird seemed to have scared 'em off. :P Why didn't the tune flow with ya? I was aiming for a more Spanish/classical style, so I suppose you gotta like that type of stuff to enjoy this tune ...

NEEDS MOAR SAXOPHONE!

nah, but the real reason, I think is because even though it was good in most places, I felt it was a tad choppy if you were really going for that Spanish style. I don't think that was the best way to put it, I wish I could explain myself better, but I tried.

Is it a compositional, or performance issue? If the latter, I'll try to make it flow better in future recordings...

I don't know how much more constructive I can get, I just generally don't like your music at all :P

That's not constructive at all. There's no way for me to improve from a comment like "I don't like your music". Contrarily, constructive criticism is usually offered for the benefit of the person on the receiving end. "I don't like your music" is an insult, not a criticism.

"Your music is bad" is an insult.

"I don't like your music" is expressing an opinion.

"I don't like your music" is expressing an opinion.
OK, that's a technicality. What matters is that neither are constructive.

What I meant was, I can't give any constructive criticism hence the reason I purely said I didn't like your music.

If you want to know what I don't like about it and what you would have to change for me to like it then my answer would be the entire genre but I didn't say that because in my opinion that's being disrespectful.

You can say all you like about musical tastes maturing in time but I'm pretty sure I'll never like this type of music considering the type of person I am and the type of things that interest me and if I'm honest, I couldn't care about what type of music I'm going to like in 10 years time, all I know is that I don't like your music right here and now.

Besides, I never said you wasn't talented and that there was anything wrong with your music in the first place.
